xB, reaching 3000 RPM's while going 70 MPH, way too high,
#41
i read all of my replies, thanks! while driving say around 70mph, how do i "turn the overdrive off or on"? to tell ya the truth, all i do is drive, go 70, how does a person turn this overdrive on or off or should I even worry about it? i love the XB, but i guess i was expecting a less of a scream of a drive, like a smooth drive.
Turning off overdrive is useful in hilly areas where the engine tends to struggle at low RPMs while dragging the car up hill. It also can serve as a quick downshift if you need a little boost of power at higher speeds. However, if you try driving 70 MPH with OD off, 3k RPM will look low in comparison to what you will see on the tach.

Not sure about the newer xb's but my 06 Goodyear 60 series stock tires made a lot of noise compared to the new 65 series Pirelli P4 tires that I have on now and they are taller so I lowered my Rpm of the engine down to 3000 RPM at 60 miles per hour with a manual transmission. As for gas mileage I get over 40 all the time but don't go crazy on the highway unless there is a good tailwind or downhill. I just drove for 6 hours back 304 miles from Pennsylvania and got 44.4 MPG.
