Test Drive today
Finally got to test drive one today. First I am 6'5"- 300 pounder. The seat was extremely comfortable, leg room was very good. I must admit that your seating is different from other cars...I kind of felt as though I was reclined back. Arms were straight out on steering wheel. Like my Mini Cooper S.
I can see moving up closer to the wheel and still being very comfortable.
armrest....not the greatest. Could be wider for one thing. The height was alright for me it was just too narrow.
AC worked well and the car has plenty of pep crusing at 60 on the I40 was very quiet.quiet quiet....did I say quiet? No air noise at all. My current cars drives me nuts it's so noisy. This car is very quiet, took me by surprise....
Went ahead and placed a deposit, Teal, Nav and the upgrade wheels....Due in May16-21.
Looking forward to a road trip.....
I am finally a happy camper

I finally got to see and drive one today while in Savannah, GA for work. Savannah Scion has a Teal and a Blackberry Crush (both automatics with the usual SET upgrade radio
and foglights). Neither is sold. I was somewhat tempted on the Teal, but decided I will go home and wait for my white one. If you go there talk to John Mikrut. He was very nice to me even though I let him know up front I was in from out of state and there was a very slim chance of selling me a car.
I loved everything about it. I agree that the thing could definitely use a telescoping wheel. Not a deal breaker for me, but it could use one. I also found the arm rest to be a little high. It seems like it should be about the same as the one on the door (maybe just a little higher). Again, not a deal breaker, just an observation.
I found it to be quiet, smooth and comfortable overall. I felt a little odd when I first got in and closed the door, but then I jacked up the seat with the height adjustment. Perfect. Bottom line: SOLD!

Ii bought mine sight unseen and love it to death. Miss my old ones efficiency Fuel though. New one is nice but needs Armrest reconfigured. All the sales guys wanted to drive it since Dealers comes in 2 weeks.

OK. I just drove one today for the first time.
I will say that it is an entirely new vehicle. Loved the power, loved the standard features that were not standard last time.
The arm rest is thin. The headrests protrude a tad too much. Loved the handling.
The C pillar is only an issue when maneuvering in and out of parking spaces. The space in the back is great and the under the cover stoage is much more logical.

i just drove the new '08 today; i have the '05 xB. i was very impressed with the power, the much better gauge setup, car felt much more solid & plush, just a great continuation of the original in my book. i drive mine for business; have 71,000 miles on my '05. sure, i wish the gas mileage will be better in the '08, but the safety & comfort definitely make up for it. needless to say, i was very impressed. and the sequential shift trans. was a great touch; we had that on my wife's Sorento.
Thanks for the great info! I've been reading with interest the debate between 1st and 2nd generation XB owners...
Since our little family seems to be outgrowing our little car ('98 Corolla), hubby and I decided to see what was available in our price range. We ended up test-driving a new 2006 Shadow Mica XB. It seemed like a great little car, if somewhat underpowered (but what is underpowered compared to a Corolla???)... I loved the funkiness, fuel economy, and price. We saw a brochure for the 2008s, and were very disappointed in the change of style and decreased gas mileage.
HOWEVER, after checking out as many reviews as we could find and debating between the 2006 and 2008 for a few days, we gave the dealership a deposit on a 2008 Black Sand Pearl XB (due in next month)! Bottom line: safety and features. Love the side-curtain airbags! Love the ABS and stability control! Love the armrest! Love the cruise control! Definitely love the price!
Though not as funky or fun as its predecessor, I believe the 2008 will be very popular for its features! (Plus, the more pictures I see the more I like the style...) For me, it's more important to have a car that's safe for my babies than one that's cool. (Though Hubby wants to order wheels, headlights, and foglights???? Safe AND cool? Is that possible?!)
Cheers!

just a note about the armrest, I had my car completely apart today and the armrest out and there is also alot of wasted space under there. The is a huge metal frame. They totally could have made it deeper. One thing I am considering is modifying mine so my ipod will go in the center consol sit unsee.
