Default What is the Best way to get a new Key?

I've got a 2008 xB and 2015 xB that I wouldn't mind getting a 3rd key made for. They have some blanks like this on eBay:

What has to be done programming wise for a new key? Can it be done without the dealership? What is the best/cheapest way to get some keys done?

Locally I've seen some mobile key shops able to reprogram Toyota keys without the dealership, never used one but they are bonded. I would yelp businesses around in your area and call a few to see if they are legit.

I have been looking at videos, reading articles, and searching the web for straightforward information regarding aftermarket keys and how to identify them. My only key has not dot or G, or anything on the blade. As I have a manual transmission, I assume I do not have an immobilizer on it. So can i use just any HYQ12BBY keyfob? I opened the fob to see if there was any identifying info, but nothing turns up. There are several double packs of keys on Amazon for around $25-30 US. But I don't want to deal with returns or anything if they do not work because I ordered the wrong one.

They will work if you can get them cut. Some places will give you a hard time about immobilizers and such but they'll be fine. Programming them is a different story that i don't know much about.

Default No chip

There's no chip in gen 2 keys, at least not up to 2012.I called Toyota to check on the cost of a new key. They said, just go get a key made. I went to a locksmith they made me a plain old key. Works perfectly. No remote features, but mine is meant for a spare.
