Intake Manifold update!!!
#21
As indicated in this thread, I have developed an intake for the 1.8L Xd but this should fit other applications that share the same motor. I have e-mailed a copy of the power gains offered by the intake since I can't seem to get the graph uploaded for some reason. I do not need a vehicle to produce the production version of the intake since I have an 08 Xd. I just need 10 real buyers (retail price is $699) to purchase them once the production run is ready. When that happens depends on when 10 enthusiasts step up. I will not require any money up front-just the real committment. We have produced as much as 145 wheel hp using a version of the intake, CAI and ex mods, but the intake alone improved the power output of the Xd motor from 120 wheel hp to 132 wheel hp with power gains registered through the entire rev range. I'll get the original power graph posted asap.

TRDxD: No worries man. Take care of what you have to take care of. Remember that modding is just a hobby. Take care of living first.
dynatek: Great news. Thanks for coming back on the forums

OK more info I just received from Richard.
This dynograph shows the stock xD (119. 85 whp) vs the xD with the Intake fitted with no other supporting mods ( 132.27whp).
Peak hp gain= 12.4whp
Again, this is with no supporting mods (INTAKE ONLY)

sweet, and ive already got a catback and intake to go along with the manifold, so hopefully i will be close to that 145whp.
dynatek, what type of intake and exhaust mods did you have to reach 145whp? im sure we all would love to see a picture of it, installed or not

And the Dyno showing the Manifold Intake + exhaust + CAI
Peak whp: 145.18 whp
Peak gain: 25.3whp !!!
Look how the gains can be seen thru the entire rev curve! Very nice
From Richard Holdener:
"Here is the dyno graph of the Xd motor with a revised version of the intake, a custom CAI, stock exhaust manifold feeding a custom downpipe and no cat-back (to simulate free-flowing exhaust). MOre power is available on this motor with true long-tube header, under drive pulleys and a few other tricks-might be able to get to 150 wheel hp"

The mods required to get to 145 wheel hp included a custom downpipe (no cats) and removal of the cat back to simulate a free-flowing cat back exhaust. We feel with a few other tricks (like long tube header, MAF revison and underd rive pulleys) we could see 150 wheel hp.

awesome! do you guys have a picture you could put up? im dying to see what this thing looks like!

No photos will be posted until we have a production piece. The prototype was done to test for power but it was not designed for fitment so we don't want to get a bunch of posts about the system not fitting. We will take the prototype design and make it fit in the confines of the Xd (and hopefully Yaris TS and matrix) chassis.

As soon as we have 10 serious people, we can have the production run completed in roughly 30 days.

Unfortunately the Corolla/Matrix crowd are going to be useless on this one since most aren't bothering for power unless they have the XRS (2AZ). I'll still give it a shot though this weekend though in case.
I really can't wait. I shoulda made the list with your guys names on it already cause I was confident you guys would be responding lol We're getting close

get one now, that way you have it when you get your xD
how are we going to be doing the payment to you, dynatek? do you have any video or pictures of the dyno run? does the manifold change the way the car sounds at all?

i was just thinking too, with 145whp at 15% drivetrain loss, that means around 165-170hp at the crank, which is more than the tC's 161hp stock. though it may have a bit more torque, the tC also weighs about 300lbs more according to vehix. so in theory, the xD should be moving pretty quick with almost 170hp at the crank.
edit: current dynos are showing 119 stock whp, which if the numbers from scion saying 128hp at the crank are correct, thats only a 7% drivetrain loss... is that even possible? regardless, it still puts us just about where the stock tC sits as far as hp, and we have less weight.
