all i know is once you pass 25kotd I would be looking for a wrx, used evo, sti, something turboed for that price. si isnt worth the price. it has almost the same power and everything as a tc, so why waste the extra money imo.

2002 si, a mini cooper S, sentra SE-R, lancer OZ rally....
and if you are being beat by all these cars, it is the driver. I have beaten them all (hmm...havent raced the cooper yet)...and the oz rally was "modified". they suck bad.

What is your source for those 1/4 mi times?

MSN rates the Si at a 15.6 I ran a 15.5 stock

( I am not saying this is accurate or not but it is a consistant number I have seen from various sources)

Considering the SC gives the tC as much WHP as the SI has BHP that is not the case. Yes, it will beat a stock tC, but not by much. It has low torque and weighs almost exactly the same.

SI: 0-60 in 7.2 sec, 1/4 in 15.1
tC: 0-60 in 7.5 sec, 1/4 in 15.6

So the SI will beat the tC stock.. but a supercharged tC will take it easilly

The SI has the buttons on the wheel and such which makes is more useful.

You swap the radio on the new tCs and there go those steering wheel controls.
I have the Camry NAV if you want it.

It doesn't matter, I'll plow them over with our 81 Bronco and plow.

lol.

All in all, the difference is the price if you were to get a buyer that was unbiased.

tC = 18,500 out the door
si = 22,000 out the door
$3.5K difference is what the buyer will see in the end, along with the premium gas.

the new Si is very nice. if it were available last summer i'd have a hard time deciding on the tC, or spending a little more on the Si. they are both fine cars that offer a lot for the money; the Si is just a lot MORE money. plus, i personally dont like the looks of the new civics. they just look... weird. they roll off at gengle slopes at both ends and makes the car look like an upside down slice of melon. the ___ is too fat, and the nose isnt to my liking at all.

</2 cents>

You guys obviously don't know what the K20 in the civic si is capable of. Head over to clubrsx and you'll find that the K20 has the potential to put down 200+ horses to the wheels, naturally aspirated.

yeah, with a buncha money on a car thats already 3,000 dollars more expensive for the base, and as much as 7,000 more fully loaded. what my post on the last page was trying to get at was that the Si is a great car, and i feel, better than the tC. but it costs a good chunk MORE than a tC, so it damn well better be a better car.

That actually shows greatly the variation between car tests between magazines and other organizations. Here is where I got mine :

The pics on page 2 are great, But thats Springs, rims, and body kit. Thats what another 3-4 k? So thats what 26,000

i have the same look with mt car, and i spent 23k on it..

and i think My Tc is hotter, lol?

and i would have not changed my mind

add a supercharger and im at that 26k mark, and my Tc would be faster...

i dont know, its a nice nice car, it's just not really my Style.. Esp a STOCK wing, its just alittle cheesey

well edmunds has the new pricing , so for a fully loaded SI otd it would be 25,000. They are only makeing 15000, I can't wait for the "stealerships" to start jacking up the price.

Um..the new base civic si price is just under 20k. So the price difference between the tC and the Si isn't that big as we thought.

Sure, the tC supercharged will give the Si a run for its money, but based on aftermarket size and stock engine specs, the si should have more potential

You pay for what you get. Look, if you want the tC to perform and have same stuff that the Si has, add S/C, LSD, springs, sway bar, and navigation. That brings the tC cost to 25k. There really is nothing free in this world.

Default We are essentially comparing apples and oranges here.

One thing that keeps getting brushed aside is the fact that the SI much like the WRX, SRT-4 ect, need not only 91+ octane gas, but also are gonna run you like 120/month for car insurance. Sure a 6spd and a higher rev would be nice in the Tc, but I didnt buy the thing to race, its a great car for the price and I can spend some time driving it instead of flipping burgers to make the payments.

Now im no expert but ive seen some new EX's for 23k, i dont really see how the base Si is 20k. I wouldnt think that'd be possible. Not that im in the market for a new car, i just dont see how the Si can be cheaper then the EX.

National Institute of Highway Safety just gave the 06 civic best award in its class for safety. I think that alone justifies buying the new civic over any other vehicle in the subcompact market.

I don't think they tested the tC but not all tC's come standard with side aribags like the civic. And for me it was nearly impossible to find a tC equipped with SAB when I got mine.
