yeah...only thing killing me on it is how slow it is
I know what you mean.. 1D's are in a tough spot when it comes to lenses.. esp wides. 16-35 is great UWA and fast.. but not wide enough.. I think 14mm is gonna be the wide and fastest you will find for a 1D.

What do you plan on shooting with the 14mm? I don't disagree that fast lens is always nice, but depends on the context if it's needed too.
i hear you...its just a want...not a need and i'd be using it for rig shots rather than de-fishing every shot

If rig shots is what you're gonna be using it for, then hear me out on this one.. you won't need a fast lens. You will be stopping the lens down to have a longer exposure to get more motion blur.. even at night. day time you will definitely be stopping it down + ND filter + CP.

Outside of rig shots, it's wide enough that you can handhold generally well if you follow the 1/focal length rule. 1DMK2N does decently well at high ISO granted it is some pretty old technology behind the processor.

It also isn't fish.. it doesn't even fish on FF since it's rectalinear.

Not telling you to buy it.. but should consider these things.

haha alrite.. what's your widest lens? you can always extend the boom of your rig to get wider shots.

wow, the 24-70 is your widest lens? a 17-40 on a 1.6x is wider than you!

sounds like a 12-24 will fill your focal gap pretty well

haha yah money

i've owned the 17-40.. just got the 16-35 (mk1)
17-40 is a really good lens! I would go for that first.. the extra stop is nice to have, but is a big premium to pay if you don't need it... that of if you got money burning a hole in your pocket

haha "what a predicament!"

This is where your mind starts playing tricks on you.. do I get the wider angle, with good IQ and longer warranty... or do i stick to Canon, get an L series, not as wide, and only 1 year warranty.. LOL

tough choice. 12-24 can't take filters since it's cyclops lens.. but that's the same thing with the 14mm so that was expected.. 17 is wider, but not as wide.. but can take filters so you can use a ND when you need it for rig.... tough tough

i'd probably go with Canon since i've heard about people getting bad versions of the Sigma....

but as of right now, i dont have the money..so i will probably keep shooting with my fisheye and defishing them

just got a d40 as a bday present a few weeks ago. havent shot in about a week, but these are some of my fav/better shots imho. some are a lil noisy bc i was unaware the auto iso even when set at 200 would bump it up to 1600, so i took the auto compensation function off

opinions? dont go too rough on me, ive only done 3 real shoots/attempts
