this is at a year old. Over 120lbs at that point.

Miss them soooo much : (

german rotts are of smaller stature, he may have hit 130 at his largest in the winter, 150+ is typically over weight for a male rotty german or not, and a 150lb female... ive NEVER seen one that big, overweight or not.

As for tips, real about bounce flashing.. this will really improve your photos, and is a great lighting technique for indoor photography.

yeah good hips is a definite thing to look for. it is very common in rotties to have bad ones cause their actual job in Germany is to pull carts. with a bite force at almost 400lbs per square in and a pulling force enough to pull a fully loaded wheel barrel of concrete they are an amazing dog especially for their small stature. Most Rotties in Germany actually don't dock the tails. I prefer docked but it's just something i am used to so of course it looks weird for them not to have it. Ours are also bred to have a DEEP mahogany tone to their "brown" spots. The girl has it but the boy is a lighter color that will get darker with age. His paws are literally as big as my hands. These dogs were bred for show but i kept them as family and have never shown them. U can kinda tell they are daddies boy and girl. ha ha They get sooo excited to see me when they get home that they literally tore through their metal cage and broke my living room window to get to me. I actually had some crappy neighbor that called the humane society on me cause they just didn't like rotties and were afraid of them and when the cop showed up and saw the dogs and saw how they were licking all over them they were like "yeah these dogs are far from mistreated and definitely eat good" and actually went next door to the neighbors and gave them a ticket for calling them out on a false charge. I was soooo laughing at them. ha ha
Ur pup is looking good tho. Nice colors, nice spots, and nice size.

580EX vs 430EX..
there are differences.. it just depends if you need those differences. if you need that extra lumen power, then get it. if you want to trigger other slave ETTL flashes, get it.. otherwise, get a 430EX and take the money you save and get wireless triggers.. much better option IMO.. more creative light options off camera

I use a 430ex and I love my flash.
I use it for fill and creative lighting outdoors and bounce it indoors.
there are times I do wish I had the 580 for outdoor fill.
indoorwise 430ex is really good for me, not many times I think to myself, that I need more power.
