This seems like the perfect young/single man's vehicle. Enough room for you, your girl or a friend and some drinks, and some other crap in the bed.

Because I'm puter illiterate I'm posting the link to "the car that hauls" instead of the actual image - had one of these some 25 years ago. Just like this one exept the interior was black.
Enjoy....or Not!

My first "mod" for the xP (slap the stickers on the rear sections of the tail gate) although my 4Runner might get jealous.

In all seriousness, if Scion really listened to the consumers in designing the xB2, then I hope they are reading this thread. I can't wait to see the xP released as a full scale "concept" at the next autoshows.

If you think about it ... Scion is one for going where others have failed or are no longer. Now how many mini trucks do you see on the roads these days. Much like the Brats and other mini trucks of the late 70s and early 80s but are no longer around. Yeah, there was the S10 and the Ranger ... but they all were cookie cutter raised suspension trucks. Now roll out a lowered mini truck with a sleek design like is pictured ... with the possibilities of a SC or Turbo, you would have to be nuts to turn it down. Now sell it for around 12K!
One thing that i cant help but notice, is that everyone is asking for rear wheel drive. IF Scion were to use the base platform of the tC or the xB2 .. they would have to turn the engine and make room for a different tranny, no? I would think that if they used the same platform as mentioned above then a front wheel drive mini truck would work just fine.
Time to bug my Scion sources and see whats what.

I know if it were FWD and offered in some really cool colors ( unlike the xB2 is ) that it would be a hot seller. IMO its no different then a Lincoln Mark LT with 4 wheel drive that never sees dirt or a gravel road. Its more for style then function. Or lets say FUN over function. I would think with the 2.4 you could actually drop the tail gate and haul a rice rocket or jet ski. The Open Deck was a big hit in Japan and it was front wheel drive.
BTW ... it is being discussed within Scion with the xP.
The Brat more or less was reborn with the Baja (though a local Subaru dealer told me O6? - maybe 07? was the final year for it as well).
When I bought the original Brat - and traded it for the El Camino - utility had absolutely nothing to do with it. I thought they were cool. Pretty much had to give them up when kids came into my life. Now they're leaving, and I'm looking to revisit one of those cars. And - if the xP comes to fruition, I may be inline for one of them as my daily driver.

Dear lord:
please make Toyota release the xP, it would be awesome.
PS, if you could please also force a 4x4 version as I would then be complete as a person once I bought one.
Nice rig, great concept, I would totally rock one!

There was another thread I saw that debated what the next Scion model would be, and lots of people mentioned a truck. Now when I was reading that, I thought no way, that would be wicked retahded. After seeing this concept, I'm happy to say I was dead wrong. I HATE SUVs, and I'm not a big fan of trucks either I (but I do recognize their utility), but I would buy that truck in a second, no question. I can live with it being FWD or RWD, but it's gonna need some power. My grandfather had a 2000 something Ranger with a 4 cylinder, and that truck was a dog. It couldn't get out of its own way if was rolling down a hill with a strong tailwind. So please Scion, give it some power; either a solid V6 or a supercharged (stock!) 2AZ-FE.

But I get your point. Likely my generation won't take to it quite like some of us did to the xB
