Scion xP? P for Pickup, That Is...

I'd buy one of these. It'd be great for commuting and mild hauling. If you see how many trucks are actually used, this thing could easily compete.
I, like some of the others, really miss the old compact trucks and truck-like vehicles of the late 70's - early 80's. There are already plenty of trucks in the US for people who really need 4x4, or higher payload capacity.
I hope Scion makes this thing. I hope it's a 4cyl. I'd be happy with FWD as well. Keep it simple, and keep it inexpensive. Keep it focused on a sorely underrepresented part of the market.
I could see using this thing for:
- Occasional hauls to help people move
- Camping (tent camping - no illusions about towing a trailer)
- Beach trips
- Costco runs
- Nights at the drive-in
- Basic commuting

I hope they make this for next year. When i was in the market for a new car, i was looking for a small truck. But nobody makes "small" trucks anymore. And that sucks! I want a truck that doesn't guzzle gas and is cheap and is just for me and maybe someone else. But mostly for me. Scion here me out! make this a truck!!

well since the new law about cars must get 35 mpg by 2020, this would be a great idea for scion to bring to the table. besides i could use one to haul maybe a small table. now the question is if they made the xp, would the xp be in the garage or would the gen1 xb be in the garage. i guess i would have to rotate them lol

I Will be ordering this the minute it comes out. i have had 2 Yota Pick-ups and i would love to have a Scion Pick-Up in the garage next to my xB. and it will be green if thats a color option. especially if its lime green.

[quote]Toyota is on a roll. It's the only manufacturer whose mid-size and full-size pickups sales volumes are both up in 2007. So how to keep the momentum going?
Word has it that Toyota is seriously thinking about giving its youth-oriented Scion brand a small two-door unibody pickup with design DNA based on the Scion Fuse sports coupe concept, seen earlier this year at the New York Auto Show.
