k&n rattle
my bumps everytime I accel/decel...I checked everything, everything was tight...I'm thinking its rubbing on the inside of the fender..here's my fix for it so it doesnt rub anymore, but I still hear it:

As you can see I used a piece of vac line from my old BOV on the Escort and then used my pocket knife to cut it lengthwise..then slid it onto the fender lip where the intake was rubbing a little bit. Other then that ...I'm thinking it might be the stiff silicone hose connecting the intake to the throttlebody.
Hope the image helps...here's a bigger view, but blurry from my crappy camera phone.

i noticed the rattle sound in the low rpms when pulling out of the street in front of my house. i used the soft side of a velcro strip and lined the metal with it. no more rattle. :D
theblade... your BCP tC looks almost like the hot lava color in those pics. cool

ive noticed where it was rubbing on both sides but on the bottom i put a rubber gasket and i almost couldnt make it rattle but on my road (gravel) it rattles like no tommorow it drives me nuts. i line the top tommorow any more input is very aprecciated
No rattles here, it took quite a while with the wheel off to align it and tighten the hell out of it, before putting back together. I read several threads about rattles, so I made sure the CAI was in the middle of the opening.
might just be your air flow.... im sure that you'd be able to hear it sucking in at it's peak (insert joke here)
Like my friend put an injen intake on his saturn, and it sounded like a vaccum cleaner.
But I'll let you know if i have similar experiences with my K&N.
Should be here 3-5

problem solved it w a s n o t the intake it was actually the tie rod on my coilovers (got in a wreck of sorts) and yes i do get the sound you are talking about it. i think its just the throttle body closing the valve when you shift forcing some air out?

I also have that whistle at 3k and at shifting seems like all my connections are tight, does any one else have this noise or is just me and the other guy, and yes aligning the bottom pipe is a pain i swear i spent more time on tha more than anything, but no rattle
The whistle is normal. The car does that stock its just a lot louder with the intake. It seems like no one on this site has ever heard a car with an intake......hahah
I used some hose to stop the rattling on my moms car. When I sold the intake I included the hose also.

I think I fixed the rattle for good, with no additional pieces.
Mine had been rattling when accellerating...
After awhile of loosening and reworking the mounting brackets, I found that the "little rubber" nobby that the mounting bracket is bolted to was the problem. The weight of the K&N had settled it a bit, so the K&N was sitting about a quarter inch lower than when i originally did the install (hence, rattling when vibrating).
What i did finally, was loosent he "Z" bracket's mounts, and rotate it clockways about 2 inches. This positioned the K&N perfectly, and havent had the rattle since.
Another thing though, make sure you tighten the bracket at the rubber stoppy first, then tighten at the actual intake pipe.
Hope that helps you guys!!
