Iceizzle, to answer your questionsz, get your TWM from twmperformance.com.....excelent service and fast shipping.
As far as the install, the DIY is helpful. It takes a bit of elbow grease but it's fairly straight forward. Your stock **** will more than likely NOT fit on the TWM shifter. I highly recomend spending the extra bucks and getting a weighted TWM shift **** with your kit. It weighs like a pound and feels so smooth and precise. Go ahead and get the whole package if you can. It is the best shifter/ **** combo you can buy IMO. Good luck and enjoy!

edit....I just realized you have a tC but my response should still apply.

i customly chopped my thrower about 2 inches (right where the thread ends) and special ordered a TWM shifter **** that only has the bolt-in's (no threads)... just level the **** correctly to the point your shifter shifts quick and smooth as much as possible an bolt that **** in tight (really tight) and youll get the same results or maybe better.

my shifter shifts so quick, when i get out of 1st gear my shifter feels like its kicking itself out of 1st into 2nd.

if anyone wants to do this, its important to figure out where your should level your **** because the more you shorten the thrower the more effort you gotta use to get into gear. the higher the **** is the more smoother and quicker the thrower gets but throw reduction decreases...

your only spending 80 bucks for the same performance or better. plus i tried someone elses short shifter (TRD brand) and it was nothing compared to mines, his shifter looks the same as mine but the thrower wasnt short as mine and without the weighted **** (twm), so his took more effort to get into gear. in other words his felt like stock except a slight shorter throw...

my advise, customly make your own short shifter with twm shift **** or buy a TWM stage 2 shifter.

ive always wondered if indeed this way is true but i need more clarification from others.

(A) i do agree with that because u do loose leverage therefor u need to have more effort in shifting it. but ur just giving urself a workout.

(B) ???? no way this is true.

im no math genius but i think ur shifting hasnt changed at all, i dont think its faster nor quicker in between gears. if u look at all the aftermarket short shifter the pivot changes even tho the lever itself is shorter.

I've got the Perrin Short throw. I think it may have been the first ever in a tC. I didn't see anyone post about one, so I figured I'd be the first. As soon as I finished putting it in I noticed that even at the lowest setting and with both sets of spacers in it was taller than stock. I called perrin and told them about all this and within a week I was sent a one off custom shift rod. I have to say that I couldn't be any happier with it. I put a TWM sII in a friend's car and, although it was awesome, after a couple months now, his shifter feels kinda loose and sloppy, but mine, only two weeks newer than his, still feels as crisp as ever. I'd post pics but, as this is my first post ever, I have no idea how.

Great post!

You are missing the Megan Racing short throw. I have not found it on Megan's website, but I found it here and purchased it from them as well.

http://www.wesellcarparts.com/store/...idproduct=3442

I have not installed it yet though. I am a new tuner and am actually here to get install directions as well as find out about a few parts

I just installed my CC shifter today. I put the spacers in there so i dont know what it feels like without them but i definitly love the feel of it. I also greased it up extra because i kept hearing people talk about how it was hard to shift. I also found that i had some clips on the little white plastic ring looking thing that holds down the shifter that noone else had. I foudn out how to take them out but they were annoying.

Also while i was in there i decided to fix it so my remote start will work only when in neutral. wont turn on in gear.

I must say, creativecompacts/promotion tunign has some amazing customer service. They shipped fast, always answered my call with no hold time when i called during business hours. They helped me when i had a question about what type of grease to use. Just thought id let everyone know.

is it worth it to get the TRD short shifter? i can get it decently cheap (a good friend of my uncle works specifically in the TRD division of toyota) and i want to maintain the stock position. i've always liked the shifter as close to the steering wheel as possible. when i drove an s2000, i could leave my thumb on the wheel and touch the shifter with my pinky.

also, is it any more difficult to install? it comes with an entire new cage thing (and the ****) instead of just the metal piece. i put in the intake and exhaust myself, so i should be able to figure it out, but are there any DIYs or walkthroughs for the TRD short shifter, specifically?

I'm hearing and reading about the quality of shifters decreasing after 10 or 20 thousand miles or after 6 or 8 months go by. Has anyone had this experience? Which ones are long lasting? which ones start to experience slight defects?
What could go wrong with the shifter?

Any info helps. Thanks all.
