Im not sure if I want the Stage 1 or 2 shifter so I was thinking of experimenting by cutting the stock shifter little by little. What should I use to cut it? I don't wanna borrow or buy something to find out that it can't cut it. thanks. Oh, can you cut it on the car or do you have to take it off? If I'm gonna cut it 3-4 times....
well, cutting the stock piece only reduces so much, the pivot point also needs to be changed to get a much larger effect..... try this for example instead of just cutting and experimenting, when youre parked, put your hand a little lower down and try moving it between the gears..... thats pretty much how just cutting the stock one would be without changing the pivot point.
Has any installed the doc i's shifter with the cage risers? If so. how was installing the top 2? Doesnt it make the cage a bit too high , as it puts stress on the shift cables. since it has to bend. If this is on the other pages, Srry i missed it.
The cage risers have to be there in order to allow the 50% reduction in throw, since the pivot point is moved so that the shifter would hit the floor without them. The cables are fine with them.
And to clarify the above about saving money with docs shifter, that is dead on, but just so people dont misunderstand, there is no compromise in quality with them whatsoever. His are made of stock shifters, meaning they are just as strong. There is also no chance of the pivot ball being off in size either.
As for what you should get, I have the 50% reduction in throw and 2 inch height reduction. IMO I would not go any shorter on either, as effort will be a tad high. That combo feels perfect to me.

I just installed the dr. iso gear shifter with my buddy. We only lubed up the pivot joint with lithium grease (i believe) and nothing else. Now it's all back together, I'm finding that it's hard to shift into 1st and second.
We installed the bushings and the gear shifts feel nice and affirmitive, it's just hard to put it into 1st and second.
I have the 50% reduction and 1 1/2" drop.
We're goign to have a look on saturday during the daylight and make sure we got everything.
Any ideas?

O yeah it does make it seem effort is greater. I stopped noticing it after 2 weeks; did i get used to it, or did it actually get easier? i dont kno but yeah there is a big difference from when you first use it.
Took out the two shift risers out of the front but left them in the back. The cage is angled down slightly but there is less stress on the cable. Shifting is easier too. Love my SS.
Hey I'm going to get a Dr Isotope gearswitcher soon and I plan on either getting a 1.5" drop or a 2" drop. I am going to use my stock shiftknob/ get the leatherwrapped **** down the line. Does anyone have pictures of either of the drops with the stock **** or have any reccommendations?
