Default First Time Forced Induction Help (TRD S/c)

Ok so Ive got a supercharger install lined up for my 2007 TC. Ive been lurking on here for years reading about the different issues that people encounter.

From what I know, to get a reliable set-up and make decent power, you need these items:

Reliability:
Upgraded Shaft: made by Gompka
Upgraded Bearings and Seals : http://www.superchargedscions.com/5652.html
Upgraded BPV: Forge 007
Oil Catch Can
Turbo Timer

Performance:
NST 9.5 Pulley
MMW Supercharger Intake
EMS/ a Tune

So does this about sum it up? Or am I missing some other important stuff? Here is my build thread:

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=222850

Let me know what else I am missing!

I wish I had something positive to say about the S/C. This is my 2nd rebuild within having it for a year and this time I have gompka's shaft, ceramic bearings, the 9.5 pulley, MMW S/C intake...pretty much your setup as as listed above without the current tune (which I made do this or next month). But I dunno after I gunned it one night on the freeway (aside from throwing out black smoke), it just seems like the S/C wants to break down. Reliable...I don't know. I expect mine to break down after I do a oil change (again). I think the only way to make it reliable is to "not play with it" lol. Granny it I suppose. I hear more noises as time goes on and the shims are making noise's on the pulley side. I had it in for almost two months. All this money I blew on rebuilds and buying parts for it...should've went turbo ><. Its sad I only beat on it for one night an only for about 15 minutes on the freeway.
Idle sounds like crap but it sounds great while driving. /shrug I have an 2006 so maybe that makes a big difference in reliability. I've seen the 07+ models and looks like they beefed up the shaft area with more reliable parts to hold it in place.

Aside from that if you are tuned then you are doing well with the S/C. I was thinking of buying NGK BKR7E spark plugs today though the supercharged scion site says use something that's a 1 step colder than TRD spark plugs with a .40" gap instead of the copper ones that are .32" gap. I'm currently using BKR8EIX with a .32" gap an boy...are the heads on those WHITE lol.

Lol nice....well hopefully i'll have a better experience with it. From what I've heard the 2007+ models are significantly more reliable than the one made for 2005-2006

The most important part is that there aren't many blowers out there - why not go turbo instead of worrying about upgrading a kit? Unless you are going to buy spare parts .... its a crap shoot.

Meh, not going turbo because I don't want that much of a set-up....I can get a reasonable amount of power out of the TRD s/c and not have to run intercooler piping and all that jazz.....
Whenever I decide to go high horsepower, I'll just go ahead and get a different car, perhaps an Audi TT RS or something like that.

400hp? What other mods did you use to get that much power? Upgraded cams? A 20lb boost pulley? Please share some of the details of your build.

Holy shiz man, that's intense.....I was thinking about just getting a port-n-polish on the head, maybe some dualspring/stainless steel valve upgrades, but I don't feel like messing with the cams and compression, that's brain surgery on a car like this. And if I was gonna go that far, I would just scrap the 2az-fe altogether, drop in a fully built 3rd gen 3sgte from a late model Celica GT4 or a Caldina, ship the car to a wizard shop in California and have them make it AWD.....but as much as I would like to do that, there is just no way to justify spending that type of money on it, when you can just spend that money on a better platform.

Anybody in the Clearwater/St.Pete area or other part of South Florida that has a shop/garage that I can use to put in some wrench time? I can't pay much but I can get you as much beer as you can drink while we do some installs lol!
