on the phone with the tuner now. car is idling better, they think i had some blow by with the supercharger and that is what caked up the MAF sensor, but cleaning it was like night and day.

now, the problem is it is idling alittle low, at about 600 rpms, and with my injectors they said it would better to idle at about 900 rpms, so i'll have to figure out if my toyota dealership can maybe use a toyota scan tool to bump up the idle.

but the BIGGER PROBLEM is my car is overheating on the dyno during every run, so it has to cool down after ever pull. apparently those fans todd sent me are pretty rinky dink, and aren't pulling enough air through. so anybody know where i can get some better slim fit cooling fans?

soooooo. hopefully the car can finish tuning so i can atleast drive it lightly, he hasn't even done a power run yet, car is making about 8 pounds of boost. only making about 220 whp so far, but like he said, overheating problem so no power run yet.

oh, and he called AEM and got did the transistor mods and now it is working fine, so the problem was with the harness. they said some cars need it, some cars don't.

hey highly doubt toyota will bump up the idle....our cars idle at 600-750 this is normal u see people with much larger injectors and they still have a 600-750 idle oh and hey sorry i couldnt make it today i tried installing my intercooler kit but one side of pipes isnt lining up too well ill have a shop bend me better pipes

well, i got the car back, it sounds awesome, sounds like a wrx engine actually, and at full throttle it is great, sounds about as loud as it was with TRD exhaust really, but it has been a while and my recollection is probably hazy.

okay, well, the car is not overheating at all on the street, drove it around, temps never went over 180, and i even did a few pulls in 3rd up to redline, so it isn't like i have to nurse it around, the car can merge with traffic just fine.

now, the ugly side is, car is not idling very well, and turning off frequently since the ecu freaks out when idle drops, it adds too much fuel and it just shuts off, but if anybody asks, i'll just say i'm hypermilling and that i put a start stop feature on my tc for better mpg!

now we just need to tune for a problem we're having with engine hesitation, the car is sometimes having a rough time at low speeds engauging 1st and reverse from a stop, so i gotta go back thursday for a street tune.

and embarrissingly enough, i'm only making 8 psi, and i'm only making about as much power as i did when i was supercharged, so around "two twenty and some change" and yeah, the car feels about the same as it was when supercharged really, but i haven't taken it all out out, it is probably making more torque and would be faster since i can actually see boost build up much faster on my boost gauge.

anyway, i'm glad i have my car back, i missed it soo much. it is a bit of a liability to drive, i'll have to be super careful, especially when pulling out into traffic.

and it looks like i'll be sourcing a koyo radiator and a mishamoto fan shroud kit for the tc so that it can keep it's cool. in for a penny, in for a pound.

the blow off valve? would it help if it was recirculated? it sounds so awesome though.

it is hard to tune a car when it needs to cool down after every pull on the dyno dude. very long slow process of doing a run, tune, wait for it to cool down, do another pull, tune, etc.

either recirculate it or run a blow-thru setup.....a good tuner can tune to compensate for the fuel that gets dumped.....unfortunately i cant say they are this skilled seeing that ur the only tc ive seen come outta there, hopefully itll get fixed

A dyno fan produces much more air flow than a radiator fan would produce. From what I remember being told, the dyno fan in our dyno produces a 20-25mph head wind when the exhaust fans are on too. I have yet to see a radiator fan kick on when the dyno fan is on. If your fans were switching on on the dyno, perhaps your cooling system wasnt fully bled and had an air pocket. It could be as simple as that. Make sure your radiator is full in the morning just to double check, and the overflow should have some coolant in it also. The best way to bleed the cooling system in a tC is to jack up the front of the car so the radiator fill neck is high, while the car is running this allows air to escape easily. By now it may be fine though.

that is very true.. I was overheating when I was first tuned and the tune at normal coolant temps wasnt good.. Its best to get a healthy cooling system when doing dyno.. not all dyno shops have good fans.

well...funny thing actually...yeah, i went to visit my bmw friend, and while looking at the car...i noticed my coolant resevoir was like...empty! so we topped it off with some genuine BMW coolant and water. i might have to go point this out to them asap. might be the whole cooling problem right there.

then, we gotta nip this engine dying problem in the butt since my car is trying to drive like a hybrid by shutting down as soon as i put it in neutral. going to kill my starter.

so i still got a lot to do. it is a sprint, not a marathon.

lol i told u to let the car coast in gear for a bit before trying to neutral the _____ ahahaha, yea its a hit or miss, personally i would just get them to set it up as a blow-thru setup so u dont have to recirculate ur bov it also makes tunning smoother and driving funner
