turbotoytas simple kit+GT3071R (vid p 12, final results p 31)
the shop is altered atmosphere. everybody has their opinions of them, some good, some bad. but they've turbo'ed a customer's tc's before, had a white tc with a greddy turbo and a built motor making 400 whp.
p-tuning is too far away at over 50 mile, and if something hits the fan, that is a hefty tow truck bill.
as for building the engine up, that isn't going to happen. i'm really only going to take it to the safe levels that th engine can take. also, the current clutch on there can only take alittle over 300 whp.

alright, got the final critical component for the turbo installation...AN OEM SEPENTINE BELT! which is good, the supercharger belt has gotten VERY squeaky after only a year. don't know why though.
yeah, well, i heard p-tuning knew how to install LSD's. stuff happens. engines can blow, problems can arise, but heck, evo's run like 25 psi of boost and can put down huge hp numbers.
turbo tuning a tc shouldn't be dificult.

I do many of the lsd installs, just to let you know, installing an lsd has nothing at all to do with 4th gear. you shim the new diff with the new bearings with the 2 gear forks set aside assembled complete. To remove the 4th gear and syncro off of the shift forks is a process only done during a complete re-built and takes much more time to do. We only did it once, on oue TA tC to send 4th gear out to get it Cryo treated and rem coated.
It's right in the toyota repair manual. You never even touch 4th gear.
When you bring a modded car to a dealership, they blame everything on the mods and or install. Take a recent customer for example... I did an install weeks ago, supercharger, piggy-back, gauges, fuel pump (on a s2000). A week or so later after driving to Flordia and back gets stuck on the side of the rd and gets car towed to a dealership in Md. The dealership charged him to tell him the fuel pump was noisy and the fuel pump voltage was low, and said they would change it for him. He then towed the car to us. I put gas in the car and it started up and ran fine. He simply ran out of gas. The dealership couldnt even figure that out and blamed it on everything and charged him.
You need not bring up the past, that is water under the bridge. If you swing by the shop, ill personally show you the insides of a tC transmission to help you understand how it works. Further more, if you need any advise or questions feel free to give us a call.

that white tC you mentioned is a good customer of ours, he came to us after Altered handed him a bill for a crazy amount of $ and his car ran poor. It didnt put down 400whp, when we put it on our dyno it put down less than 300. We then tuned it correctly and it put down 320 about.

i'm sure even p-tuning has had something go wrong with a customer's car, i'm sure every shop has had a problem with somebody's car. they way i just look at it is this, p-tuning is over 50 miles away, if something goes wrong, that is a very nasty tow bill, while altered is just 6 miles away, i could push the car there in one day if something goes wrong, i can drop by and have it checked up on. or even one of the other shops in the area like mid atlantic motorsports, and andrew tech or another shop in the air park. since the car is a daily driver, it is good that i can squeeze time in any of the 6 days they're open and get it checked out.
as it is, i am right now on pin's and needles with both fear and excitement. i mean, a turbo kit is just a bolt-on deal. might be some fitment issues with the turbo toyotas kit, and having to make a downpipe, but we'll see.
i'm worried about tuning with the trd reflashed ecu because i hear that it is both better and worse for tuning with a piggyback for a turbo, but i guess i'll have to find out.
and yeah, sure, my car could go boom during the dyno tuning session, but lets all hope that doesn't happen. i'm not going for record breaking dyno numbers here. just shooting for a modest 300 whp/lb-ft torque. it has been done many times on different owner's cars.
i'm actually going to honestly miss the supercharger a little cuz it has worked, despite all the bad experiences with other owner's out there, the biggest complaint i have with it, is that my serpentine belt squeaks alot, but it is the belt that i got with my NST pulley, so it might just be a crappy belt, and not the supercharger's fault. it got me through several long several hundred mile straight cross country trips, two seasons of autocrossing, infact, yesterday with it was great, car gave me enough power to keep running into my 2nd gear rev limiter, so i can't say it wasn't giving me enough power, and the only other cars doing that were the STI's and EVO's, it reeled in and topped nearly all the N/A tc's i drag raced at the scion show of champions minus one really bad late launch that was all my fault, and it even managed to get the jump and hold the lead over mo's p-tuning turbo'ed tc with over a 50 whp advantage. soon it'll be up for sale, along with my weapon-r header, but it was a good companion.
sigh...the waiting is the hardest part...guess no news is good news...unless they already blew up my car and are fabricating a story to blame me... lol nice guys too, they asked me how extensively photographed i wanted it to be and i just said to snap a few pics here and there when they had a chance. don't want to wait forever cuz they're snapping pics from every angle while adjusting the lighting and shadows and testing out different filters and lenses LMAO!
well, turbo kit is on, fitment wasn't bad, just a few places it was rubbing on the radiator support and frame, so they had to bend them alittle. no big deals. supercharger off, turbocharger on, gotta finish making the s-pipe. right now the fuel system is being installed. should be tuned by the end of the day, and then tomorrow they wanna test drive it. hopefully they don't pick me up any speed camera tickets! lol but the car should be ready tomorrow! YAY!
