Thanks for your reply Ack154! This may sound stupid, but on my current key (which is cracked and falling apart) I'd just take out the transponder only and put it into the new switchblade key? http://www.__________.com/TOYOTA-Fol...-Key-Case.html

I was trying to figure out what you meant by "guts" in your original post. I have read all the related threads to this one. I know that my key has this....somewhat triangle thing underneath the keys. Do I transfer this into the new key as well so I won't have to program it? If I do not, that means I do program it? (using the add mode?)

sorry if that made no sense. =(
basically, ill buy that key in the link, ill take it to lowes or someplace and get it cut, and ill superglue the transponder from my OEM key in the switchblade key.

is that it? thanks and sorry.

Zing!

Very true!

Something else to add to my tC To-Do List when I get back from the desert.

Rewrote DIY as more of a DIY and not a jumble of junk. Hopefully it makes more sense this way.

Feedback welcomed.

If you have a key that's worn and needs replacing, this is perfect. Especially at just $22 shipped from that one place. Can't beat it.

Don't worry about the FCC ID... if you swap the entire guts and button part from your original key, it won't matter.

My concern would be where the buttons line up. With the key we're talking about in most of this thread - the lock/unlock buttons are swapped and you need to switch the silver buttons to match it up. On the one you liked there is a trunk button (which is odd) and things may not match up. It's a 4 button vs the tC's 3 button.

yeah i saw that but i figured that i didnt have to use the trunk release button...
now i dont know if i should risk it or just buy the one that everyone is talking about knowing that it'll work for sure...what would you suggest?
i sent a question to the seller but we'll see what he responds with...
