Need clean install advice!
Hey all-
I was hoping someone here might be able to help me out with my iPod problem. I have an '06 Scion tc with the standard Aux headunit. No iPod functionality or anything. But I do (obviously) have the aux port in my center console as well as the cigarette lighter port.
Basically, I'm not interested in Toyota's super expensive iPod headunit because I prefer the iPod's interface to the head unit's any day of the week. But I need some suggestions on some cradles that will put my iPod at eye height - at at least in the neighborhood of my eyes. Obviously, if I'm going to be controlling my iPod I don't want it sitting in my center console but I'm also worried that if I'm running two cables (one for iPod power and one for the headphone jack on the iPod) out of the armrest it's going to look super ugly.
Any advice on getting a clean install using he aux jack without running cables from the arm rest? And FM transmitters are totally out of the question. I'd like the absolute best sound possible. Any advice would be awesome.
Thanks!

you can use something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8V7058...8647112&sr=8-8
but you will have to run cables from the arm rest unless you move the aux in port to behind the dash, and tap the cig lighter near the cubby hole. all of which are possible, just a bit more work. the adapter above will allow you to charge and get the audio from the ipod dock connector so that it is only one cable. as for mounting you can get a universal mount that goes on your windshield. then run that cable up to the top of the center console. much like how many people hardwire their scanners in that area. that is definately an option.
the cleanest would be to use bluetooth, however that gets pricey and you also lose the ability to charge.

So this is my problem (or what have you)
I'm tired of the way the iPod controls are on the Stock head unit. It's annoying and dangerous. I have to spin that **** forever. Anyway, I'm wanting to install a new Pioneer AVIC-Z2. If i do this will the current iPod connecting system that is already in the car connect to the after market head unit? And, will the Controls on the steering wheel still work? And finally, could I use that pull down cover to HIDE my new head unit when I'm not in my car?

^nope you cannot use the stock ipod cable with the z2; you will need to get the pioneer one specifically made for the z2. also you could use the steering controls, however you would need to get a pac-swi-ps adapter which runs about 60 from crutchfield. and if you mount it back (drill out the nipples on your bracket) then yes you will be able to close it.
