hmmmm... so I'd think about:

1) Is it even an option for me to wait? As in, can I survive using alternatives (rideshare, borrow a car, public transportation, rent a car...) to having my own car for those three weeks?
2) How badly do I want that particular color?

So...if the answer to the first question is no... then you really have no choice, and you'll need to get something now, right? If the answer is maybe, or yes, then that opens up room for considering the other question.

Mine died in the beginning of May, but I'm really lucky in having been able to borrow a car for close to two months now... Which is making me really antsy about my tC that's still waiting for TRD parts to get to the dealership to get installed...

Default It's stateside now!

For any of you who care, which I doubt are many... My car is in Long Beach now! It hit the port today. Just have to get the accessories installed and then ship it by train to AZ! Yippee!

On another note, my Corolla is in the body shop (friend got hit while driving my car - nothing serious) so I am in a loaner xB. It's pretty cool, but slow as molasses. I am having fun playing with the colors on the radio... Does anyone know if my 06 tC do that? I dropped the Bazooka tube from my tC based on the sound in the xB. I am way too old for that boom!

I cannot wait to post pics in the Flint Mica Cult. I am sooo excited!

Also I'm not sure what are you basing what you said "the month it was built is what really matter" ?!?!? Used car pricing is always based on the model year - NO PRICING TOOL EVER ASKS ABOUT THE MONTH IT WAS BUILT.
Like I said before, I would recommend anyone wait for the 06s if they can.

The Camry is a slightly more expensive car than the tC and I got a $400 price difference between the 00 and 01 trade-in values in fair condition both with 60000 miles. Pricing tool, shmicing tool - Kelley Blue Book does not own a dealership and they do not buy used cars. How much you sell your used vehicle for totally depends who you are selling the car to - not what KBB says. When I had our used car manager appraise vehicles one of the questions we had to ask is what month and year they purchased the vehicle. If I were to buy a used car from a private owner I would absolutely look to see what month it was built, especially if it was the first year the particular vehicle came out.

Obviously there are a lot of factors to consider if you're making a decision like this, but the fact of the matter is, if you need a car, the 05 is not a bad choice. It is hard to find a tC that is the one you like and if is right there and you need car and don't want to wait, go for it. Not waiting to get the car you want is worth something too.

If the dealerships are having trouble moving 05s when their 06s show up, it is in their power to drop the price to get rid of the last 1 or 2 they have left. I would bet the farm that Scion is never going to institute a mandatory 05 price decrease no matter how many times you say people are losing $2000 if they get an 05. These are hot cars and dealerships are having no trouble selling them because they are a great value and they're not overloading the market with them.

Obviously most people do not buy cars based on what they think the car is going to be worth in 5 years. If they did, why would anyone ever buy a vehicle other than Honda or Toyota? Customers buy the car to drive it, and if they can have it, they want the car now.
People, note this line from quote above: "How much you sell your used vehicle for totally depends who you are selling the car to - not what KBB says."

This is typical dealer speak that they use to try to convince you to sell or trade in your old car for whatever price they want. The quote even suggests that they know that you are not getting a fair price, but a price that you are pressured into accepting because you want to buy the new car. So it depends on WHO you are selling it to and how good that person is in convincing you to trade in below kelly blue book price. But doesn't KBB price guide exist to tell people what is a fair value ? Isn't their research better then the slimey double talk you will hear from a greedy salesperson ? The KBB prices does not mean dealers don't make any money, in fact the susualy spread between dealer price and trade in price is about as much they make selling new cars. It's just that they are trying to maximize their profit by convincing you under pressure to sell your car for less then it's worth. BEWARE OF THE SLIMEY STEALERS

maybe you should wait until the TRD supercharger is available, yep leave your car at the dealership parked in the sun all day until that is available and only then buy it. You still have the loaner car in the meantime don't you, so just keep on waitnig for the TRD parts cause obviously the car is not "ready" without them.....

Heh heh heh...
...You know that thought crossed my mind!

...but as much as that supercharger has been vaporware for about a year, I wasn't going to let that sway my timing...but then hearing that it's supposed to come out in two months-ish...supported by news that it's passed all the necessary tests...and news that dealers are getting allocated x number of them to start, and confirmed by moriarty and other dealers' reports about it...

...I still just wasn't able to convince myself that waiting for two more months was the thing to do, especially since the rest of the car was available (barring the current shipping wait for the TRD parts that are commercially available. Plus, though the loaner car has been working for me...it's oooooold, and I don't quite trust it all the way. And I have gotten a little tired of that.

I am planning to buy the extended warranty with the $200 add-on coverage for the supercharger, though, which apparently I have to do time of car-purchase...so after it's come out and I've saved the money, I can drop that guy in there and still have it covered up to the car's 100,000 miles.

So I ain't waitin', but I'll be prepped for when it does come out.

Heh... and as far as the TRD parts for which I am waiting...moriarty's like 2 hours from me...so even though I *could* have picked it up with just the scion stuff installed this past...Tuesday or so, drove it home, flown away on a trip, return, and then go back up to have the TRD stuff installed after it arrived... I figure it to be easier (less long-drive time on the brand spanking new car, for instance) to just get up there once. (even with moriarty's offer to try to work something out about meeting me in the middle).

I placed my order a week ago last saturday (so, on 6/18 ) for a 2006 tC. Gave them 3 color choices too (BCP, AP, NB). Was told it was probably going to take 4-6 weeks to get the car in, depending on if they could trade for one or if they were going to have to request one in their next allocation from the manufacturer. After finalizing loan information (bank wanted order form before would approve the loan), got a call that friday (6/24), that they had found one for me that was BCP and will only have 10-15 miles on it. And it'll be ready in about 2 weeks. I'm assuming some of that time is to get my accessories installed on it. So, very excited and happy with my dealer.

Edit: Forgot to mention, its going to have the side airbags, floor mats, fog lights, mud guards, and pedestal spoiler.

Default Finally got It

i finally got my '06 sw man tc on friday 7-1!! it only had 5 miles on it when i got it. the only problem was they put a 05 stereo unit in my 06 car so the steering wheel controls don't work. when i went to pick it up the dealer said the got 6 cars in that day. 5 were already sold and 1 was on the lot for 2 and a half hours. the car is great and everybody loves the way it looks.

Unbelievable! I stopped into the dealer last week on Monday, and they told me that they would have my car between the 30th of June and the 5th of July. I called today and they said that they won't have it now until sometime between now and the 11th of July. They don't have a VIN for the car that I'm supposed to be getting either... should I be worried?

This is driving me nuts, because I'm driving a beater that my buddy is letting me borrow... and I WANT MY tC!!!
