Ordering a 2006 tC?

You see, cars age and lose their value even if their are not driven, and most consumers do you pricing tools like KBB to determine what is a fair selling price that they ask for their car when they sell it or trade it in. In the saab case, the difference is more then $3000 just for a few months of the car being in existence. Maybe toyota cars age slower then others therefore they depreciate in value slower, but still an estimation of $2000 per year is not far from reality. And despite what you say, the model year is what really counts and what most buyers and sellers base their value on. THEREFORE NO ONE SHOULD BUY A 2005 NOW
A Saab 93 is a 30K vehicle that depreciates quicker than a Toyota and the first few years of the car's life is a biggest depreciation drop so it is not a valid comparison.
KBB is a tool to get a gauge, nothing more. And yes, there is a diference in value between an older 05 and a new 05 beyond the fact that the older 05 is more likely to have more miles.
Slay thyself.
back to the topic at hand, i just called four different dealers in the cfl area and asked if i could order a 2006 scion tC. THREE of them told me something similar to the following:
- no, they aren't out yet and no one has them.
- no, we are still in the 2005 model year and the 2006 won't be out for a few months.
- there was no scion press release. the 2005 model is still current.
granted, i still see in their inventories that they have a few 2005 models left. so of course they are going to want to sell me those first, but it wasn't even like they know their own product. i mentioned the press release to each one of them and not one of them knew what i was talking about. i have to say that is pretty pathetic. sure, everyone here is a "fanboy" of the car, but c'mon, these people obviously don't care about their products. i know some of the dealers on here are like "us" and they do care, but these people were obviously your "run-o-the-mill" sales people and only care about selling cars instead of helping people out.
however, i was able to get a hold of one dealer and their rep. she wasn't sure at first, but she checked her allotments and saw that 2006's were coming in and she was a little surprised but offered to me right away if i'd like to come in and put down a deposit. she even told me when they were expected to come in so that if i wanted to come down and see them first, i could. and just fyi for you cfl people, it looks like 2006's will start arriving here around june 16th.
i mean, even at her doubt, she checked for me. all the other three dealers would not even bother with checking their allotments/inventory. instead, they blew me off or said they are not out yet or preffered that i hang-up the phone on them while they tried to get me to come down and see the 2005 models they had on their lot.
bottom line is, for you guys out there still trying to find someone who knows anything, keep trying. and if you can, drive to the dealerships and ask them to check out their allotments coming in. basically, you'll just have to talk to that *right* person who actually cares to help you out or in the rare case, someone who actually knows about their product.
*edit* again, i just want to say thanks to the dealers (jumbo, bdonscion, c_rowe, lowrightor, etc) that come to these boards out of their own time and who actually *care* about their products and keep us informed. it's too bad none of you are local to me or you'd have my order, haha!

Why not wait and see exactly what the new blue color will look like in person before you slap down a deposit?
There are very few variables for which you can control that are going to make any REAL difference in how long it takes for you to get your car. Every dealer is going to tell you that he can get it faster than anyone else, that he has some sort of hook-up. They don't. The only thing that you can really do to speed up your purchase is (once the 06s are available in the US), searching every dealership (by phone or in person) within 100 miles to see who has one in stock.

The 2005 model year is about over. Most folks are now looking forward to the next model year. That doesn't mean a person is mis-informed, stupid nor mislead if he/she buys a 2005. It just means they don't share your particular situation nor values.

Also, someone mentioned that all tC's are made in Japan. I think I read somewhere that the tC shares its frame with some other car only released in that area. That is normal though right? Vibe and Matrix use the same frame. They both come out of the same plan right here is Fremont Ca. Well that is one place anyway.
Shadow, getting a Manual as well. Good boy, here is a cookie!
