First off, if you are ever wondering "Is my salesman trying to pull a fast one on me?" he probably is. It's sort of like women... if you think she's cheating, odds are she is.

Secondly, what he's doing is not only wrong but ILLEGAL. And, in my experience, if he's doing this, the GM not only knows about it but encourages it. So here's what you need to do: contact Scion corporate office at the number that someone listed above. Then, you need to contact your local Better Business Bureau and file a complaint. I'd be amazed if there aren't already quite a few other complaints there. Finally, check out whichever new dealer you go to (because you had better not buy from these crooks) through the Better Business Bureau and make sure that if they have any complaints against them, they have been resolved or are being resolved. Another thing that you need to do is know what you're buying. You need to do some research online to educate yourself about the product. Learn what's included and what isn't and what costs how much so that when you go to the dealer and you hear a line like this, you'll know for a fact that it's BS.

Good luck to you.

haha...what you should do is go to the scion website and start printing out the "standard items" list on the car and show him your "build your own" vehicle. sit back and watch him come up with another excuse.

the scion website states it at 17,000 + dealer fee's...i clearly asked him for a bare tC with no options added. all i wanted was the headunit with the ipod compatibility.

he said it had some gold package..whatever that was.

should i be paying 17,000 + dealerfee's + ttl + my options?
Just for fun.. go back in and say you would like to order one without power windows and locks... then slap him when he cant find one

Its definitely time to take your business elsewhere.
that's what i was thinking...

i forgot the last time that pdl and pw werent standard. i'd understand if it was the corolla CE..

but i will be calling up other dealerships. i plan to pay in full, and i would rather not pay 100 dollars for their floor mats. ill just buy them on ebay or something.
You mean the Corolla POS, right? I got stuck with one of those as a dealership loaner car while Power Toyota was fixing the screwdriver damage Tustin Toyota did to my tC's interior.

If anyone here thinks a bone stock tC with iPod compatibility comes out to 19,000.00, you need to call the number in my signature right now.

And that dealership claiming that power windows and door locks are extra, they need to be reported to Scion Customer Service, PRONTO. That's not just the standard dishonest car dealer crap, that's downright criminal. Report them.

And you are one of the few I stand up for, and honestly thank. Much like Mark T. Highleyman at Power Toyota, and a few co-workers at Mercedes-Benz Laguna N. You are the one who deserve to be noticed and rewarded for being honest while you make your living. The life of a car salesmean is hard, and I wouldn't choose it... It's far too much 'sink or swim' for me. But those who try to sell a pure-priced car for thousands more than the sticker price--for instance, almost everyone working at Tustin Toyota, including the General Manager, and their "customer service" lackeys--Yes, I'm talking to you, you bunch of crooks, and I will continue warning everyone about Tustin Toyota here in Orange County off the 405 freeway--deserve to be held accountable.

And if the dealership has to loose their license to sell the Scion brand, so be it.

Toyota must realize that it has marketed a product as "Pure-Priced," and needs to stand by each and every customer to make sure they are not breaking the law by letting one dealership criminally deceive one customer.

It is bad that people get grouped that way. I completely understand, as my father is a mechanic, a very honest one, which surprises many new customers. But he still has to deal with the overly skeptical ones that group him with the rip-off artists before they even do business with him. Unfortunately there are more dishonest that honest people out there, so people tend to lean towards the skeptical. If you truly follow the ideals you posted above I commend you for taking care of your customers!
