TRD tC Supercharger release date and price!!! NO JOKE!!!!
Well guys, I just had a look @ the specs for the Pontiac Grand Prix, and up until recently, the GP was only producing 40 extra Hp for about $3670 and that car was a V-6. So $80 per horse under warranty isn't that bad.
3200 is very worth this supercharger, the power capabilities after a pulley swap are amazing. 2.4 litres plus 7 pounds boost is easily over 300hp, trd will be probably round 2-3 lb of boost, the engine can handle 7 no sweat. best will be that the ignition will be remapped to the supercharger, so no need for a chipping

CONFIRMED!!!!!
I just got a phone call from my DM. I hadn't asked him about the memo on page 1 of this thread, but he quoted it verbatum, plus added a couple of extra details. The "over the counter" price will be $2700. The $3200 cost is the installed cost, although that's based on 5 hours labor and I know of very few dealerships that actually charge $100 per hour labor. Depending on the labor charges at the dealers, you are looking at $3000 to $3100 installed, with warranty.
Delivery time is September 1. I actually believe it now.

I've read several places Scion was going to offer a factory installed SC. When would this be available?

I'm not sure if I would call it a rumor. See the news posting at Autoweek.com for February 1st, 2005. Posting pretty much implies SC will be available installed from factory this year (it says April, but we already know this is wrong) due to strong consumer demand.

There is a specific reason why the supercharger can't be installed in Japan that my regional rep told me. I forget it now. Something about regulations on importing a supercharged vehicle? I don't know why the supercharger can't be installed at port though. There must be a reason for that too. I would rather a port tech that installed hundreds of superchargers install mine rather than a dealership tech who has only done a handful. Cliffy?
The article was incorrect and not just with regard to the plans for the supercharger. The article stated that this alleged factory SC model of the tC would be Toyota's first and that the Matrix was really the only other one that had been available with an aftermarket SC. Well, the 94-95 Previa had a factory SC and the 1st generation MR2 had one. As for what has been available aftermarket, there are plenty of Solaras, Tundras, Tacomas and 4Runners floating around with TRD super chargers. The article was off base and incorrect. There has never been a plan to offer the SC from the factory.

The techs at the port really are no better than most dealership techs.

They felt it could be done in less than an hour once a person had done one or two.
