I think this might be an issue for folks buying tires for their SUV or old sedan, but I seriously doubt it impacts any tC owners-- most of us ride on Z-rated tires, and I know that the Lion's Share of Cali and Florida drivers are on ultra-high performance tires. These types of tires have short production runs, generally only 2-3 years between improvement, redesign, or replacement.

Out of curiosity, I just checked mine. I bought all four Falken FK451s from Discount Tire Direct in September of '05. All four tires are marked 2205, meaning they were manufactured in the second week of June, roughly 3 months before I bought them-- and I bought them the year they were discontinued and replaced by the FK452.

Trust ABC news and 20/20 to make a whole mountain range out of three or four molehills.
