Before I bought my tC I drove auto and I had little to no experience on driving stick. When I got my tC it was manual, my homie had to drive it home for me =/ haha anyways I guess I thought it was the cool thing, than one day it hit me where I actually started to regret it, whenever I left the house I was always nervous of stalling in public, until this day I still am, it's only been about 6 days w/ this car, and I guess I should have taken in the consideration that I'm not the only one who's going to be driving this car. The tC was built as an economy car, it wasn't meant to have that much power. Back then I use to have the mentality of being fast, but now since I've gotten pass that phase, I just would like a car that gets me from point a to point b and one that saves gas especially during this time. I'm not saying I'm not going to add anything to it, it's nice to have a car to your personnel preference, just because I like the sound of an intake and have a lip kit doesn't mean I want to race .

How about suspension mods or appearance enhancements? A nice set of springs/shocks/coil overs + sway bars + tires perhaps.

I also have an auto, xdejablu3x. You're not alone, bro. Like you I've been thinking about what to do with my car. I decided to do mods after a year since I first got her. Now is that time. I'm also considering the s/c....but first thing you gotta ask is if you want a performance or show car. Either option will make our cars the envy of the neighborhood--if done right, of course.

I think we A/T drivers are a different breed---we're practical and tolerant. I've been driving M/Ts ever since I learned how to drive, but when I moved here in Cali I said, "to hell with this traffic! I'm getting an automatic!"

As for mods, A/Ts have very limited choices as far as the engine is concerned. I've learned to accept that. On the other hand, the things we can do to the rest of the car, particularly on how the car presents itself, is endless. IOW, we still have our creativity.

Speed's not the only cool factor .

lolz. I need to go slower next time around, but that doesn't mean i'm going to buy an auto. Driving can still be fun. I'm driving an automatic Element right now, I hate it. It's a nice car, but I prefered my sporty little manual tC.

Speed isn't everything it's hyped to be. But if you insist, I'd just do the I/H/E/Pulley combo. You'll get some nice performance gains if you're really that speed-hungry.

And there is nothing wrong with having an A/T. My last tC was auto... Some times in Phoenix traffic I do wish I still had it...

First of all manuals are awesome; however, you can do anything you want to an automatic that you can do with a manual. So far I have put a TRD cold air intake and exhaust and putting on headers when they come in. And I have an automatic (not that I wanted it, but because I went through too many clutches with my civic my bf didnt want me to replace them on my scion).

Lastly, why would you want a car that is all show and no go???? That is just dumb! You are asking for the title of RICER.

so if you have a nice looking car but no turbo supercharger cai etc....then you're a ricer?............

And why is having a nice looking car without all the power mods dumb?

lol, I was just about to object to that too! Having a 'clean' car doesn't mean all the rumble and tumble in the engine

Some of us just don't feel the need for speed, but just to have the looks that kill

I mean cars that look good are OK, but to me and MY OPINION it is better to have some speed to the car along with a nice exterior and interior (thats how you win car shows by having good well built cars that are clean under the hood and a clean exterior and interior). Then again if it is done right then you can opt out of the ricer category, but most people don't do it right. Besides a lot of the mods to the body are to help with the performance at higher hp and speed. So why not just add a bit more and put the mods for performance on? And parts for performance are cheaper in some respects (if you look in the right place) than body.

I guess mostly because some people don't build their cars to win car shows. Or because some people don't build their car to race anyone or for speed and sometimes having a carbon fiber hood just looks nicer than the OEM hood regardless that it weighs less....

and performance parts are not necessarily cheaper-- cf hood costs less than most good coilovers at least in my experience.....unless you consider the carbon fiber hood a performance part....

I guess OPINIONS MEAN NOTHING TO YOU GUYS OR LADIES!

This is my opinion and if you don't like it then oh well. I just prefer to be able to back up how my car looks. And I prefer to do automotive/mechanical work than body work (though I know how to do body work as well, just not my favorite). And in no way am I saying my car on the outside will be stock because thats not cool either (yes I agree carbon fiber on the right car looks better and yes carbon fiber looks better than OEM). I just like my cars to look awesome inside AND outside. Is there anything wrong with that? I apologize for saying that having all show and no go is a problem, because if that is what you want and you want your car to be aesthetic rather than have better parts and better looking parts under the hood as well then that is your opinion and preference. As I said the cf hood and trunks, kits, lowering springs, wings and etc have a functionality to them other than to look good and to weigh less, they supplement your performance mods.
