HID Help Thread
Yeah, I wouldn't go any higher than that. No clue how strict cops are about stuff like that around here and it's just too blue for me. I want nice bright lights that look nice if possible. I had heard here and there that some people had a hard time driving in the rain because of how the light reflects off the water. I have issues with my stock lights in the rain (newly paved roads are the worst) and I didn't want to "upgrade" to something even worse.
I have 6K at 35W and it's kinda useless in the rain. It's hard to see the road/pavement and the lines.
Maybe if I get OEM fogs with bright yellow bulbs, it might help a lot to see the wet road?!? Anyone have any experience with this?

So I got my Onex slim 35w 6000k... they came with a pair of "OEM connector to Ballast" cables. Do i need them? it looks like i could just connect my ballast directly to my OEM connector. gimme a sec lemme see if i can post pictures.
EDIT: NVM my room has poor lighting. they remind me of the cable biglilsteve posted a the beginning of the thread

hey biglilsteve, when you took them off, did you use them or did you toss them?

I used all the cables that came with the kit. Your ballast won't be able to connect directly to the oem connector without using the supplied cable. You install yet??
lol, thanks biglilsteve, i did some youtube searches and saw where that cable goes. i'm ganna give it a try this long weekend, still doing pre-installation planning like where to put the ballasts. also the passenger side has me a little worried since i have such chubby hands.
Hey don't worry about chubby hands man. I highly recommend ballast placements that Enzie used (check page 5 of this thread). And also the passenger side looks tight where you are putting in the bulb, but as soon as you remove the washer fluid tube it gets way easier.
Yup that placement is ideal and many of us here have gone with it. And removing it is in the users manual in the changing headlight bulb section. But basically you take out that black plastic pin that secures it near the top and pull it right up. Very easy/simple.
alright guys, i installed my HIDs. the most fun part was mounting the ballast, the worst part was putting the bulbs in. scary.
my kit was a little funny because i had to reverse the polarity on the passenger side, but not the driver side. rather than move the ballast and bulbs back and forth i'll just leave it well enough as is.
now for the fun part. mounting the ballast.
since i have slims, i didn't wedge the ballast into the side gutter, nor did i use double sided tap or any tape at all.
I USED ZIP TIES. we'll see if my ballast will dislodge, but i'm pretty confident.

Driver side

passenger side

what you dont see in the photo is, i made a vertical and horizontal harness (not an electrical harness) wrapped around my ballast. the vertical is meant to hold down the horizontal, and the horizontal is holding down the zip tie wrapped around the gap. redundancies were created to prevent a single failed zip tie from letting loose the ballast in my engine bay.

i zipped tied the bundle of wires into a single bundle

unfortunately there were casualties. 20 zip ties lost their lives during the installation of these HIDs *salute*
i did this in the morning, so i didnt take any photos of the 35w 6000k HIDs, maybe later tonight or something
many thanks to the advise from biglilsteve and seeing kidjustin's set up and this thread!
opps, i dindt realize my VIN was in the photos let me edit them out and repost them

I'm having a really really hard time getting the passenger bulb in. I've been at it for an hour or more. No matter how much I twist the stupid thing it won't stay. It's loose. I'm so frustrated I'm bout ready to quit. The factory bulbs pop in no problem. Drivers side gave me a little trouble but it's in.
The HID bulbs are definitely tougher to get in. My advice is to double check to make sure the rubber o-rings are properly positioned on the bulb. They are thicker than the ones on the OEM bulbs so they definitely require more strong-arming.
Did you take the washer tube out to give yourself more room to work with?
