HID Help Thread
Nice discussion going in here.
For my ONEX kit, there was a plastic washer between the rubber ring and the 3-tooth socket. i had to remove the plastic ring and put the rubber where the plastic washer was. i had to squeeze and stretch the rubber ring around that spot first before putting the bulb in and twisting to secure.
notice how the teeth are different sizes? its hard to match the teeth to the slot visually, so i basically used touch and feel and kept turning and pushing the bulb in clock wise until the teeth fell into their slot and used some force to make sure it was snugly attached. kinda like those cut our blocks toddlers play with where they need to fit the block into their socket.
as for brightness. I feel exactly the same way alicia1984. ONEX only came with 4500 or 6000, and i got 6000 to see how things will be. IMO worst that can happen would be to buy another set of bulbs for like 15 bucks.
The problem is, it is bright but because blue blends into darkness alot easier than yellow blending into darkness. So it seems like yellow light is brighter because it appears to cover more surface area while blue might be covering the same area, the blue is blending in to the black. the blue makes you think the light is dimmer, but if you were to shine the same halogens, you wont notice light at all.
also its summer, and i havent been driving that much when the sun has completely set.
The reason they aren't just BRIGHT BRIGHT is because of glare. our cars, or the projector lamps, are designed to point the light downward instead of speading it and getting into people's eyes. you can get bright bright just by turning on your highbeams but i don't recommend that. the light area is the same as your halogens, but the area itself is brighter.

I only took them out once last night for no more than 2 minutes so I'm going to give them another shot. If not I'll look into whether I should try 4500k bulbs from DDM, upgrade to 55w ballasts or splurge on some higher end bulbs like the Morimotos. Right now my biggest concern is my tints making it hard for me to back up at night. I may have just turned my car into a blind death trap here.lol
Morimoto bulbs are fantastic. I have 4300k Morimoto 3Five bulbs (paired with the 35w DDM ballasts) for my fogs and they have fantastic color. They are very true to their color ratings...much more accurate than the DDM bulbs.
If you get the 5000k Morimoto 3Five bulbs for your headlights, you'll get exactly what you're looking for.
I'm so tempted to get the entire Morimoto 5Five kit with ballasts and everything and just be done with the DDMs.

So the 5k Morimoto bulb would be a super bright pure white color that doesn't seem to blend like my DDM bulbs? Or should I go with 4300k? Like I said when I got the HIDs my priorities were usability first and aesthetics after. I don't want to throw down money on bulbs that cost more than my DDM kit without being sure of what I'm getting.lol
I appreciate all your help by the way.

I'd go with the 5000k for your headlight. I like the slight tint of yellow for the purposes of my fog lights, but I wouldn't wanna go quite that low for headlights. Go with the 5000k. They'll be gorgeous
I was looking at the Morimotos last night and I wanna say it was from that site. Is that where you recommend I order from?
Right now I'm trying to find some replacement reverse lights because I can't see shiat when backing up. I bought PIAA 7440 bulbs and they were too large and now I'm scared to order some replacement bulbs someone suggested that are like 40 bucks. Any idea why they wouldn't fit?

I highly recommend TRS. I got my 4300k 3Five's from them.

And I have no idea about your reverse light issue. Are you saying it won't go into the housing? Do you have a link to the bulb you tried?

Okay cool. I'll go through them.
Yeah, they were too large to fit. I ordered these.

hmmm...they don't seem any larger than the stock bulbs by the looks of the pic. I have a very long LED tower for my reverse. It was definitely longer than the stock bulb and I barely got it to fit.
Question, I have HIDs, i believe they are 10ks (not positive). does anyone else have problems of the right (passenger light) not always turning on and having to turn on and off their headlights till it does?
No issues here. That is not normal. Could be one of several issues. I would start by swapping the ballasts with each other. If the problem moves to the driver side then you know it's a ballast issue.
