So my Morimotos came in earlier this week and I didn't get around to putting them in until today because I was afraid of a repeat of last Friday. In every possible way these bulbs are like night and day. They went in on the first try with no issues and the color even in the daytime was so much whiter than the DDM bulb. I'm happy with the purchase so thanks to you Steve. Only issue I had was when I went to leave my friends house she told me to turn them on to check them out and when I shut the door to go look the drivers side light turned off. I popped the hood and made sure everything was in good and it was so hopefully it was just a fluke?

I'm glad you like the Moto's!! I'm a bit jealous because I wish I had them for my headlights. I only have them in my fogs lol.

And I do hope that little issue was just a fluke. Keep us posted during the coming weeks letting us know how the reliability is

Honestly man, I wouldn't bother with HIDs for your high beams. It's pretty useless since they take awhile to warm up. The point of high beams is to have the extra light you need instantaneously.

But to get them back working, you should make sure you didn't blow a fuse somewhere. It's got to be as simple as that...

If you get the 5000k Morimoto 3Five bulbs for your headlights, you'll get exactly what you're looking for.

I'm so tempted to get the entire Morimoto 5Five kit with ballasts and everything and just be done with the DDMs.
If your DDM are working just fine then what's the reasoning to change them out for the Morimoto?

^^working fine vs working better

in Stephen's opinion Morimoto bulbs are truer in color. The DDM kit (ballast + bulbs) works fine for what they give you

He is using the DDM Ballast + Morimoto bulbs not DDM bulbs. He wants to change out the already working DDM Ballast infavor of the Morimoto Ballast.

^^i see understood.

i thought u were talking about what he has already done and not what he was "tempted" on doing it

i'll let Stephen handle it futher, but i believe it's like "I drive my Scion and its a fine and dandy no problems, but maybe I'll go get a Porsche because its just a better car"

Perhaps, but at least with the Porsche you can flash it around to the public or however you like and have them admire its beauty and power over the Scion. hehehe

I don't think the same would apply for a small electronics device hidden under the hood and especially the fact that it would only be recognized by those that even know what a Ballast is.

Morimotos have super quick startup/warmup (equivalent to OEM HID setups) and have rock-solid reliability. My DDMs are starting to show their age. Occasionally they start to flicker and I have to cut them off and back on to get them to stop. I also can't have them on when I start my car because they won't reignite properly. Just little things like this that people with quality setups don't have to worry about.

I just like to know I have the best equipment. Makes me feel better about getting in my car. Justin, same reason why you went with the OEM+ Audio setup instead of going with less expensive options that "work just fine".

EDIT: And on the subject of accurate bulb colors, it's not a matter of my opinion...it's fact. The difference between DDM's "4500k" bulb vs. the 4300k Morimoto bulbs is almost night and day. The Morimoto 4300k is a really nice "daylight" color (as a 4300k bulb should). The DDM bulb is way too cool and is closer to 5500k. Even alicia saw the difference.

Wouldn't the Meng Motorsports v2 HID kit be just as good in terms of quality and accuracy to the true form of 4300k just as Morimoto is? There's also that durability test with the kid using the hammer on it while it still functions also the submerged test with it still shining.

The Meng v2 Kit is $120 4y warranty
The Morimoto Elite Kit is $150 5y warranty

$30 difference isn't that much but the 1y extra could be worth the $30 extra

Noob question, again, if I want a higher light output while not spending too much money. Should I go with the DDM 55w/ 5000k bulbs? or the same ballast but with Morimoto 50w 5k bulbs? What I am looking for is for a true white light output. And for the foglights, the same configuration? what type of bulbs for headlights low beam/highbeam and fogs? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And when it comes down to that, I will stick with a brand that I trust as well as many retrofitters. I'm sure the Mengs work great, but I'm sure if you go to HIDPlanet forums, Morimoto is going to be the brand you are recommended every time (after OEM setups like Denso and Matsushida of course).

DDM 55w 4500k is going to be what you're looking for if you want pure white without spending a bunch of money. It's the setup I currently have for my low-beams and it looks nice. There isn't any yellow in them.

Negatory. Just buy the kit. No error eliminators, no harness.

Not sure what you meant by "Negatory". From what I have been reading about the Morimoto Kit, I guess I'll save up a bit more and get the 5FIVE ballasts and bulbs. A little pricey ($160) but it'll be well worth it. These is the kit, right?http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=242.
Thanks for your help biglisteve.

Noooooo, that's the D2S kit. You want the H11 kit found here:
http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...oducts_id=3955

The H11 5Five costs the same as the H11 3Five for some reason.

And thanks for clearing that up KJ haha.

I ordered these in 5000K:
Amazon Amazon

The ballasts slide up the frame rail on each side of the engine bay and "lock" in at the top. Snug enough that they haven't budged since installation 3K miles ago. Super clean and easy.

Looking at the HIDs from an angle, they look blue-purple-ish. Straight on, they're tinted with blue but mostly white. But the light they output is PURE white and very high-quality (35W). No ballast required, and the lights turn on and off instantly because of the digital ballast. No delay at all. An amazing deal for the price, and the 5000K is that perfect "expensive car" look.
