Buyers Guide: Gen2 tC Intakes
Yea I imagine some speed would be needed for the semi-forced induction. But at the very least the engine has good access for fresh cool air, which increases power in itself, but you prob noe that
Introducing.. The Sleep'R Intake System..

But I certainly know there is a difference. Most noticeable from ~3400RPMs and up. Not referring to sound, even though its significantly louder. And it gets better with speed
Edit: I thought the 350z was supposed to be out of my class.. was not impressed last night. Don't know if I should lose respect for the car/driver or gain some for this intake since its my only performance mod..
Im considering getting a short one. I guess that leaves me with the injen or Weapon R. If i get one I DO NOT want it to be throwing CEL's at me. I like the looks of the weapon r better and would go for it but i am not sure if it throws CEL's or not. Can anyone give me advice on the weapon R?
Also, would it cause problems when passing inspection?

both are fine choices. I've had the weapon r for 10k+ miles now and no CEL. No problems for inspection either. There arn't enough differences in performance gains to decide on that basis so go on whichever brand appeals to you and looks better. One thing I will say though is that the injen probably has better fit/finish than the weapon-r.
Has anyone heard of or tried the AEM CAI? I'm considering ordering one next friday when I get paid. Anyone have any thought on it? I like it because it's bent in all the ways that it wont just be a straight pipe over your fuse wires, and also it's electronically tuned.
its way overpriced
its not really "tuned" it just ensures u dont get a CEL
just get a descendant ans save some money. there is absolutely no difference between intakes or its so marginal that spending $5 more would be a waste. descendant comes in matte black which looks awesome and u can paint the exhsaut manifold cover to match it
did u see my q's for u in my thread?

I want to get a polished intake so it'll match my Cusco strut bar, and I'm getting the Weapon R Headers soon so the Polished Gold will match too. But my concern was because I had a Takeda CAI intake before and it turned on my check engine light, no matter how many times I reset it by disconnecting the battery or using a DOBII Reader. I really like the way the AEM intake looks, I dont really like the way the decendant looks. (That's the reason I bought the takeda in the first place
And no I didn't see your Q's in your thread, i'll take a look

oh I actually got Takeda to be different but didnt like the look. I actually like descendant look better.
If looks what matters to u get AEM I guess its just super expensive. Although weapon-r looks nice too but it looks like ur looking for a CAI

Regardless, Project, if you are concerned about CELs then you may want to stay away from the headers. Installing headers that remove your cat is definitely more likely to give you a CEL than installing any intake.
I ordered my AEM ETI on Friday, I'm pretty positive that it won't give me a CEL. Just hurt to pay $240 for an intake
and I'm still probably getting the headers, but in going to get the CEL eliminator with it so it won't turn on my CEL. That's the plan Atleast, I've heard some people's doesnt turn on with the eliminator and some still do.

If its going off or on... Then isn't that a bad sign? Doesn't it mean the car is unable to achieve the proper ratios? The CEL eliminator does its job by tricking the car, correct? So how does this help the car's performance?
Increasing flow is good.. but too much flow is bad isn't it?
Wouldn't it be better to get the car retuned after putting items like CAI or headers on rather than lying to the car about what it has going on?
All very good questions. But the CEL is there to tell you that there is no cat cleaning up your emissions...right? Either way I am sure that the car should be tuned after mods like those
But I was thinking in the case of those who put headers or CAI on and got a CEL without necessarily removing the CAT unless they did and did not mention it in their posts.
In the CAT topic.. wouldn't it be ideal to obtain and install a High Flow CAT? Or would that not guarantee the CEL's absense?
