not 130... 127 to be exact... with my turbo box i redlined it out in 5th gear at 127 with some heavy 19's...
It was in that area. Your speedo might be off cause of your 19's. just a thought.

I don't think I'll ever be coaxed into trying anything over 100 (got to about 90-95 in LA), especially since the xB is my wife's car and when I'm in it, she's in it.

Going fast isn't really my thing though, I love driving fast through the twisties in my Spyder. Much more fun than holding the gas pedal down IMO.

here is a fun fact about speedo accuracy. I bought my 501s with a low pro tire... and noticed that my speedo was off. so i went and got it calibrated. I know mine is accurate up pretty high. I asked the guy at toyota, and he said it shouldn't go rouge at higher mph. he could be wrong tho. i am just going by what i have been told!

I don't know for sure about the box, (I do know that the auto xB is gear limited to ~130...That's geared) I know the 5spd xA (and xB, in theory they have all the same parts in a diff package) is geared to go no more than ~127.5 and the governor kicks in at 118...This I know for sure. Of course, with taller wheel/tire you can go faster, but your speedo will be off.

the spedo runs of that tranny right well bigger wheels will make your actualy speed off but at 6000rpms in 5 gear every xb will read the same mph right but say you were to be shot with the laser gun your actuall speed may be different

20 min.? you should be a 120 in like 3 min.
Check the altitude in Colorado - if you guys are clocking really high speeds it's probably because you are running in thinner air with less air drag. It can make a big difference!

problem with the thinner air though, is it is also thinner going into the motor, less oxy to burn. less hp...

If what xSTANDxSTRONGx said is true than I would think that altitude would not matter. Though it would appear that an xB would be limited to drag resistance and not gearing, it would make sense that one would be able to push the vehicle to the limits with the "right mods" as stated before. Whether or not that person changed the gearing is unlikely, but possible. Either way, it is very hard for me to belive that an xB can reach speeds above 125, especially "with ease". It would be harder for me to believe this in a 5-sp where the gearing is closer. My old Miata would max out at 117(ish), sure it would pull the whole way there, but the gears were so friggin close that 117(ish) was its max. I should note that I never took the car to that speed, but it was my good friend whom I bought the car from.

Interesting fact: For the average vehicle, it takes more power from the engine to break wind resistance at 60mph than it does to turn the wheels.

another thing to consider, power mods (i.e. NOT tranny changes, or wheels) do NOT make you faster...they make you quicker. The difference is, a fast car has a high top speed, a quick car gets to the top speed...well...quicker. Fast is top speed, quick is 0-60.

with that analogy, power mods can make you faster, if you have more hp and torque, you will have more power to overcome the wind resistance, i would look at it more like speed is a measure of hp, whereas torque is a matter of time... on the 1/4, higher hp cars will have a higer trap speed than lower hp cars that post the same numbers...

Very true, but, no matter how much power you have, you won't get past 134mph in a 5spd xA or xB on stock-height tires. (that includes taking out the governor) they are only geared to go ~127

didnt think we were talking about the mechanical limit, thought we were talking about how power mods cant make a car faster... anyways...

but the mechanical limit is WHY power mods can't make your car faster.

"another thing to consider, power mods (i.e. NOT tranny changes, or wheels) do NOT make you faster...they make you quicker." i was going off of that, if i top out at 105 drag limited, then with enough power mods i would be able to hit the mechanical... guess i didnt read it like you meant it... anywho...

my Geo would top out at about 93mph and full or half throttle would keep you there but it was geared to go 135mph at redline. The xB is simular - although the gearing will allow you to go 127mph at redline you probably will not get there because of the needed HP is not enough if NA. Boost the HP enough and you will get there but not go any faster unless the gearing is changed or the rev limiter raised.

oy, of course the mechanical limit is why we cant make it faster than 127, the statement was made in generalization that power mods cannot make a car faster...
