??? It's still 4 cylinders, what's the diff? My dad use to have a VW Golf Diesel 85 model. Man, that car sounded nice. He installed 2 mufflers on the car from the GTI Golf.
Why? I have no idea, he's crazy. The car however sounded great and it was not loud, it just sounded like a nice German sports car.

As is, the Scion sounds nice when you drive it hard past 3 grand, so I just assumed that same would be louder with the exhaust.

Anyway, it was noticeability quieter on the ride home yesterday. I've put about 80 miles on it. I will see if I can get a hose and split the hose or rubber piece to put between the muffler and trailer hitch.

156 miles now. It seems quieter as I drive. Funny thing is, I heard no different in having the hatch open or closed. Just seems strange. I am spraying the trunk area and inside the hatch with the sound deadening, metal protector spray. 1 cans in total to quiet the sound some.

Unless I get a ticket, I am going to keep it. Its loud in stop and go traffic, but it does well it preventing tail gaters and it has a lot more useful power at lower rpms. I shirt shift it not at about 2 grand. Got 156 miles on 3/4 of gas left, so looks like the fuel economy is up.

Now for the weapon r 4 2 1 header. I notice it has no o2 bung, does the stock one have one or did they put tha tin the down pipe? Thanks

holy cow how did you get 156 miles on 1/4 tank ?!

and the o2 sensor is not on the header for the engine.

Thanks. I used 2 cans, not 1 for the trunk area and inside hatch. Its quieter now with that. One funny thing I have notice is that the ac seems cooler? WTF? How can a muffler make the AC cooler?

I normally get over 200 miles at the half tank spot. Last tank was 232 miles on 6.001 gallons of gas. Since the fan mod I have no been able to hit 40 or more mpg, but this muffler makes the ac cooler. Lets see how the mpg works out. I did a mix of driving today.

Nice having more usable power off idle and to shift earlier than 3500 rpms.

i think it's placebo effect.
it's just an axle-back exhaust. it's there for sound.

Here is a photo and clip. Got the header too, not installed yet. 212 miles 5.4 gallons. Not bad, at least fuel econony did not go down.

Its always nice to have money to buy car parts. Its difficult to get past the payment forms of most websites if you do not enter payment information.

I will have some dry by clips next week. Been too busy this week. I think I would of had higher fuel economy if I did not horse around with the mufler down the road. It does sound nice when you put your foot in it, however that type of driving leads to less fuel economy.

Anyway, its loud under engine braking and acceleration. At idle its a minute plop, polp, plop idle sound, then at the tap of the throttle it roars to life til you hit 2 grand. It silences off, then comes back about 3000. The clip gives a good example of that.

Each fill up, still 36 mpg. I have had any needs to jack rabbit start as well as idle in traffic or fast food places. So, will try driving how I want and see if it falls below 31mpg.

One unique thing I see that reminds me of my diesel, when I floor it, who ever is tail gating me keeps their distance. I do not see any smoke, so must be the sound. Anyone else notice this strange bahavior when some is tailgating you and let it rip and they keep the distance?

280 miles on 8 gallons, 35mpg. This was from Richmond to va beach and back with some traffic, idling and shifting at 7 grand with 70-80mph cruzing speeds. Not bad, I can drive like a butthole and get decent economy.
