i actualy JUST came across a shop in Hawaii that did a yaris swap. i didn't see what type of engine they used, they DID have a piture of it though. completely custom, they redid the center drive area to house a RWD tranny and a 4 cylnder toyota truck engine *thats all they said* my guess would be that it was like an S10 toyota pickup engine or something... looked simular to a 4EFTE but diffrent head/top. it was mounted as a straight 4 settup, the only modification they did was that centeral area where the tranny went and about 2 inch massaga for the back part of the engine.

it was a RWD yaris custom built for "customs" drifting.

if they can do that without THAT much modification, then a 1ZZFE wil fit just fine with less modification on both xA and xB. i also notice that there is more head room virticly on the xB and xA *more on the xB* then the Echo, being that a 2ZZGE has already been fitted to an echo, then a 1ZZGE will fit an xA or xB just fine with a little extra room that would come into use when adding some extra tension strength from the added torque after boosting power.

not pointless... just an example of "if you want to do it, you can do it".

the gas peddal from my undrstanding *from what i'm told by the shop that did the swap* is for securety reasons because some of thier shows go for couple days at a time, so they take the gas pedal out to protect agenst theft.

they told me they've had some problems during shows from time to time, thats all i got when i asked so thats what i'm assuming is why they take it out in shows.

it's a perfect example of being able to do anything you want regardless of what others say though... i think it would have been better if they went the extra 10 feet, got some new internals and turbo'ed it.

also, rgardless of what they told me through email. from the looks of it, that yaris is an incomplete project. unless they purposely left the exhuast mani and pipes off... seems unfinished OR they just said "it's not a street car so who cares" and tossed it.

oh and again, not really pointless, that motor it's got is most likely the 2.4L tacoma motor, 140hp with 160lbs torque.

they should have just stock a tC motor in there with a RWD tranny.

I cant stand it when kids try so hard to impress people to try and make friends

Just a game? ya whatever. If nobody would have called him on it, he'd still be up to it. Accept it would be turboed AND supercharged LOL, with nitrous and rear whell drive ... no wait all whell drive.

Damn it... Can't find the link.

Anyway, the Yaris project (from what I can recall) is a custom drift vehicle in the spirit of the AE86 - which is why they picked the parts that they did. Trying to keep with the same weight essentially.

Incidentally, one of the people working on this project is selling a vehicle here on the site.

i understand your point bro,
but keep in mind the cost of getting what ever power gain possible out of that swap( or any swap) versus bolt on F/I. I know the power with bolt on F/I is definatly not acceptable, but I belive we all know that the swap/fabrication is not the only cost involved here, keeping in mind upgraded front axel, tranny....etc. As we all know anything as you pointed out can be done with enough$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Cost is the problem not the doubt of fitment, i as well as most people are waiting for someone with the cash to get it done and pave the way through their experience. I wish i had the cash to be that example.

AWD would actually be easier than RWD.
