I think Yelo is just a lil preoccupied with his turbo dilemma. I'm sure there is progress

Yeah but we shouldn't have to rely on Yelo for news on this... The guy has a forum account and can post...

I just want to know how things are going, especially since he's said that he'd got another xD to test fit on.

Well it does come down to Yelo because its his car thats being tested on. Rogue can go on all day saying what he's done but it would mean nothing if it isnt fitting or being tested on a actual car ;P

Sorry I haven't personally updated things lately. I haven't done much on this forum and just haven't made it a habit to check on things as I have with others.
I was able to attend a great all Scion event this last weekend in Phoenix and was very impressed with many cars, and had my first opportunity to meet YELOSUB in person.
At the show we were able to test fit the last parts pictured and we are getting very close. Since then I've made a new mold for the full 'cowl panel' which the scoop will mount to and have done another model for a scoop. I'll try to have a part within the next couple days and will post some pics as well as send the parts to YELOSUB.

Here are a couple pics of the last part on the car.

It was a great time at the event, enjoyed the cars and people, well organized too.
My wife's pretty much into cars too, but after all she's been going with me to shows, races and about anything else car related for over 25 years now. If she had it her way all the carbon work I do would be for her .
I must say that the Scion community is larger than I thought so I'm excited about getting this and some other project going and getting to know more owners.
I'll try to have some more pics up this weekend.

The first sample for the TC will be going out to RCZDesigns early next week and I'll be sending him some pictures this weekend if everything works out.

I'm running a couple days behind but should have some pics of the latest tomorrow (Tues) and will be sending the part out for testing. I'm hoping most of the fitment issues are addressed with this part so then it will just be down to some tweaks and finalizing the shape of the scoop.

Here are a few pics of the latest parts. The finish isn't good since I'm not really working on that now, so I just spayed some clear on it to make it look a little better. The base was done using a sample mold and since that part of it should remain unchanged I'll be making the final mold for it.
As for the scoop itself, after seeing the earlier two on the car, we determined the opening could move forward without any clearance problems, and for this one I just tried something a little different with the shape of the opening. Let me know what you think, in fact since this is the third prototype I'm hoping to finalize the shape of the scoop soon so input will be needed. In the very beginning I mocked up a couple ideas and one of them extended past the base piece on the sides and back, but I've determined this would be difficult to do and would like to keep the width the same as the base piece.
I'll be sending the part out for testing and am hoping we are about there.

If we can nail down the shape and 'look' of the scoop soon, I should be able to have the first couple production parts in about 3 weeks.

Got the newest prototype from Jim today and we are SOOOO close to being there...Here is the email I sent back to Jim so I can keep all you guys and gals in the loop too:
____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Hello Jim,

I got the newest update today...The fit is almost dead on...The only part that did meet up is the the back part of the scoop as you will see in the picture...There is a very small space that you can actually see through where the scoop does not meet with the plastic of the the original wiper cowl...Other than that, I really did not see any other issues...Everything fit snug, the tabs are placed in the right spot, and so on...In one of the pictures, when you look at the scoop from the back, it does not look symetrical...Maybe it's just me and I know this is just a mock up...One other thing is the opening of the scoop...How do you plan on finishing it off? Do you plan on running the carbon around the bottom like in the original ones or are you planning of having two distinct stopping sections like on the one you sent me? I kind of like it going around the whole entire opening and the screen like we had originally planned...i know you did not put a screen in this one because it was not necessary because at this point we are just trying to get the fitment and shape down...I will post the pics of this on ScionLife also and the email I sent to you so everyone will be updated...Again, thank you for your time and can't wait to see the finished product! And I definately still want to go with the Orange/Black kevlar weave...

Respectfully,

Tim

Here are the pics...Don't mind the haziness, this is a rough piece and not cleared or anything...Jim just sent it so we could check fitment issues...Also, don't mind the zip tie end you see in the last picture, that's holding my hood rod down since Todd at TT lost it when he returned my car back to me not put back togaether...

UPDATE:

I'm an idiot...

I just looked in the box and there was another one all wrapped up...It was the nicely finished one with the screen and everything else...It's the same one pictured above that Jim posted...The fitment is the same...It fits nice and tight and does not move around...It still has the same little gap at the same exact spot...Other than that, this thing ROCKS!!!!!

Nice, it looks like the scoop leaves off at a good location also to prevent water hitting the battery. Excellent job Rogue
