nvm i got the bushings and the ssk in...feel hella better than stock...it packs that little bit of resistance...

i was a bit scared that the bushing wouldn't fit into the ssk but it all worked out...

i kinda widened one of the snap rings too much...it still holds but its a but wide...
is it gonna b a prob? if so where can i get replacements?

ah, well, you beat me to it. but for anyone else thats wondering, heres the install for the 2 piece bushing kit:

it was a pretty big PITA to get the bushing installed over the ssk simply because there isnt a whole lot of play in the shift linkage. also, the install is a little easier if you put the car in second gear. but the bushings make a big difference. i installed them just after i installed the ssk, and there was a decent change. its a little stiff, but it will break in just right in a little bit.

if you get the ssk, you might as well get the bushings at the same time since youll be down there working. now i just gotta find the perfect shift ****.

krazyscion, i would get a hold of mike at NST and see if they can ship you some. it shouldnt be a problem though, i had to stretch mine out to get them on as well... and the cotter pin is there to help hold it all together too. but if you are still concerned, NST should be able to send you some more.

It should not be a problem, but you can take your snap ring to your local parts stores such as Home Depot or Lowes and buy a replacement. These are cheap little pieces and buying one in your area would be cheaper than paying us to ship them out to you.

Thanks again for the kind words and the support of our products, good luck and have fun with all your projects!

The shifter cable bushings pictured above install in the engine bay.

The in-cabin bushings are installed at the bottom of the shifter cage, inside the car. You don't have to remove the OEM stick from the cage, simply unbolt the cage from the floor, install the NST cage bushings, and reinstall your cage.

The crappy feel is due to the cable binding on the original NST shifter kit. NST omits a significant part that ships with the TRD version. The TRD kit contains a cable realignment bracket which is significantly lighter than the stock hunk of iron. It positions the linkage cables to allow a smoother shift. I tried to do the conversion the NST way (without the plate) and was told I would notice a difference if I did it the "right" way. I was pleasantly surprised when, after installing the plate, I realized a smooth shift pattern once again. Neutral became intuitive again by feel rather than muddy and indistinct without the plate.

You get what you pay for I guess.

You should save yourself some repetative typing and just put that in your sig.

Ive got no problems with the way the NST kit feels, especially after putting the bushings in. After a few days, the shifting became even smoother, and now it feels great.

Installed the NST SSK on my 1 week old red xD this morning and it makes a huge difference. This is IMO the first thing everyone should do with a new xD. Makes it a lot more fun to drive.

You would have smoother shifts with a less "vague" neutral position if NST had included the cable realignment plate which TRD includes in their kit. I did it both ways and the TRD part is clearly smoother.
