None takin.. I really didnt care for the D40.. Its a great learning camera as far as just gettiing into DSLR camera's.
The 5D is one of my fav's.. Great choice, Defintetly dont try the d40 after that..

yeah it would be weird to use a small camera plus using a crop sensor.
I shoot with a 5d but i also have an Elan 7e and I am sure it is smaller than the xt or d40 ha ha

yeah i know what its for but i figure it will help a little like a ND filter. I need to get a ND filter and a GND big time. Especially here in memphis where we get like NO clouds.

yah we don't much clouds out here in cali either.. I thought about getting a GND, but i don't shoot landscapes enough.. and I can generally recover a lot of detail and photoshop in my own GND later on.
Are you on POTN? I saw a 3-stop Tiffen ND fs there yesterday for $30 shipped.

Hard to say.. I've only handled the Hoya one.. I would expect it to be decent.. if you're not gonna have it on your camera all the time, I wouldn't worry too much.. I know it doesn't color cast
