At what RPM are you letting off. I don't get that on any of the cars I have tuned. Do you have your decel inj off option checked?

 

^^ It doesnt matter what rpm but it doesnt make that pop sound right away after I let off, usually the pop happens when I hit the brakes while on boost.. its prolly just to reach mixture, i barely get it when decelerating slowly... but i'll check on that setting

Today I turned on the car without any popping!! THANK G-D!!!

I did some tweaking of the maps.
Then I played around with the base fuel map ^^

Yea it still dies at idle. But no annoying LOUD popping anymore.

I'll see if my brother lets me borrow his laptop again, haha.

I also pushed a little more timing at boost, and leaned it out some more to 10afr in the boosted area. So its more consistent. Because in some cells it was hitting 9 AFRs.

Took it to the highway. Definitely noticeable on the butt dyno.

This might be a noobie question.

But do you guys think the idle area of the Fuel Map should be in open loop or closed loop?

I'm trying to think of the pros and cons of it.

 

^^ my idle mostly is on closed loop, sometimes it jumps to open for less than a second. But at cold start its open then goes to close, and i think that how it should be.. I think those popping is because you are running too rich, and too rich prolly caused you stall?

 

9 and 10s afrs sound too rich for me, go lean it out way more.. mine is now at 13s to 14s on slow speed cruise, 11.7-12.5 part throttle, 11.1 WOT but varies a lil from from 2nd to 4th.. 1st is shhitt lol

It was running wayyyy too rich. Which is odd because I would lean it out, and it wouldn't turn on at all.

So I had to play around with the timing at idle too.

Starts pretty good now. Then it dies, lol. So I probably have it to lean at idle once it settles. But its a huge improvement as funny as it may sound, lmao.

So it was stalling before because it was too rich. Now I think it stalls after a few minutes, because its too lean =p

Since its not as rich as it used to be, the torque feels like it fluctuates a lot more. Like from really torquey to a lot less torque =P

It probably because I need to smooth the curve out. I guess cars love running rich. But best torque is around stoich. So I have to get it close to that magic number ^^

Yea I also definitely need to lean out the boosted area of the fuel map some more. I'm always scared of leaning that area out in big amounts >.<

I think I pressed Page Down, like 25-30 times in that area. Then hit enter. Saved. Downloaded. Turned on car. Start Datalog. Stare at my AFR gauge, lol. Pretty much stayed in the 10's in boost =D

So i'll probably do that again, later this week, but not to that extreme, lol.

 

I wish I had my own dyno or at least a roller so my car doesnt move, street tuning is PITA lol.. i rescaled my map to only upto 13 psi for a finer tune, i'll see how it goes.. and hey I bought a 300 laptop of ebay, that I can use for tuning without problems hopefully it will work out

Oh yea, my maps go up to like 30psi. I don't think i'll be there anytime soon. So its probably a better idea if I fine tune it more between 0-14psi.

I might need some help with the rescaling. I know where it is. I've never done it though.

lol i lost 5 bids, i was so ____ed so I just bought the buy it now lol.. but the one you mentioned should be enough for the program..

I just used the other low boost scale on the hydra, but im sure you can have it custom by changing the values on the side.. then just hit migrate map and then it auto adjust, it runs pretty same as the big map but havent really tested it out yet.. i just dropped off my car to the shop to have some stuff installed..

I think i'll leave it at like 6500 or 7k rpms max, and set the max boost to like 14psi, because it was at like 30psi.

That I was getting a lot of backfire at start up.

It was pretty rich, so when I would try to turn on the car, it would sound like a shotgun went off.

It would scare pretty much anyone near the vicinity of my car, lol.

So I finally tweaked the hydra to my liking. So it doesn't backfire anymore.

I still have to play around with base fuel map, and post enrichment map a little, because it dies after a few minutes at idle. Other than that i'm pretty happy with the results so far.

 

thats funny cause my car used to do something similar. it was when i had e-manage. sometimes after i let it sit for a couple days without starting it, it would make a loud backfire when i turned the key to the on position, not the start. it seemed like the longer i went without starting the car, the louder the pop. until one day it happened so bad that it blew apart my intake manifold....




...so i'm very glad to hear that its gone for you. i never did figure out why that used to happen?

 

I think he's popping noise is from the exhaust.. or is it? that shouldnt be a problem.. but pop on the manifold or your vacuum source is bad.. I had like 2 of that and its crazy loud and scary, it made me buy a spare intake manifold but it never happened again
