It's my pride and joy. The only reason I rarely drive it is because I'm scared of getting tickets. I'm not worried about ruining anything at all while driving. I'll probably start cruising around on the weekends with it. But, I refuse to park it in a parking lot for fear of vandalization. Too many haters in SoCal.

Is your ticket marked correctable or non-correctable?
I got a fix-it ticket for no front plate on my school campus & had to pay $30 but never had to have a ref check it because it was marked non-correctable.
However, in October, on my way to SEMA I got pulled over for no front plate & blue turn signals & now I have to have a ref check it off & pay the $10 fee because it was marked correctable.
Oh & might I add....he could've popped me for a supercharger (even though it's TRD, & 50 state legal, they WILL find a reason to bust you for it regardless), modified exhaust (i got a warning but no official ticket for it), front mount intercooler, headers, & everything, but he didn't. I hear it's illegal to modify the actual body of the car, too, which I'm widebody but I don't know if that's true or not.

As for the GT/Cobra discussion......that's moot. I said Shelby GT500. And it can, in fact, smoke a regular Mustang GT. It's base torque is 475. But that's a discussion for another thread on another site, I'd imagine.
Knightman,
A turbo on a Scion tC is illegal for it removes the cat and replaces it with a downpipe. The supercharger does not remove/replace the exhaust manifold, and thus is legal.
All the cars you listed have ways to manage their emissions. They would not be on the dealership lot if they did not.
Your lawyer speech reminds me of why I love America. You can get away with anything if you pay enough money, despite being guilty to the core.
And finally, peak torque/horsepower ratings mean nothing. A Shelby/Cobra/whatever does not immediately take a GT off of the line because a supercharger has to build boost too. So until you're really laying rubber down, you're driving an expensive GT.

I'm not a track racer (obviously) so I'd still opt for a super vs a turbo anyway. Even still, without good reason, a cop is not looking under my hood without a warrant.

I'd say being told to pop the hood constitutes an illegal search, another thing defense lawyers love.
This is what ANY defense lawyer would advise his clients of should they be presented with this situation. Any defense of the above would have an extremely low success rate, and low success rates equal less billable hours.
I hope that wasn't too much "attitude" for you.

And in response to what you said about a smog check, it's simple, get the smog check initially, and carry a copy with you at all times (like I do with my deferred receipts....just in case). If you can produce paperwork on the sport that says you're legal, I'd wager there's only two things they can do at that point: 1) nothing and 2) like it.

Then I'd say california needs better lawyers, among other things. My lawyers will do whatever it takes. They don't always 'get me off' of the offense, but as I've said before, 9 tickets and counting, but zero on my record. I keep getting either a complete dismissal or deferred adjudication.

I can see manners are a lost concept on you, at least as it pertains to 'random IP addresses.' I once knew someone who acted like a reject online because it 'wasn't real.' Trouble is, we all knew each other in the 'real world' as well and soon, we didn't care for her either.
Have you succeeded in making yourself look lofty and smart to the rest of us random IP addresses? Can you sleep well tonight now?
You know what? Don't answer that. I really don't care.
I would suggest you take it to PM if you want to continue your lecture on manners after telling me to "lick your nut" in your first response, noob. Otherwise, add something constructive to this forum or move the hell on, people like you with a severe lack of personal responsibility and common sense send the wrong message here. That's the reason why I call you a random IP address, your profile says your 29, but I have the distinct feeling I'm conversing with spoiled 16 year old that's never dealt with life outside of his parents house. I have a hard time believing an adult is stupid enough to rack up 9 tickets, have to hire lawyers to defend himself against them, and managed to total his previous car. You may want to look in the mirror and ask yourself what you're doing wrong, because clearly you're not doing things right. I don't know what part of Dallas you're from or where you grew up, but personal responsibility was something that was stressed very heavily where I lived in Plano.
Yes, I do sleep well at night, thanks for your concern. And sorry to disappoint, I do have lots of friends here on SL and in the real world that disagree with your assessment of me. I'm willing to be your friend too if you are willing to change you attitude and take some responsibility for your poor choices rather than having your lawyers do that for you.

And I cracks me up to meet someone who talks about responsibility and lawyers in the same sentence. That's rich. You do know, that as an American citizen, it's your RIGHT to fight a ticket when you think you didn't deserve to get one, don't you? I mean you did graduate high school, right? Being able to defend oneself is one of the greatest things about our country. If you feel you got a ticket in error or that you are innocent of the offense, you have the right to defend yourself. I'd wager, since those tickets were dismissed and none are on my record......I must have been right, and responsible in exercising my right to go to court and represent myself.
But thanks anyway for your assessment, it was wholly ignored and useless, but thanks anyway. I'm done with you now. There's no need to pm because I wouldn't pm you if I were being paid to do so.
wow another reason why i like florida lol... i pass prob 3 cops going to work every day.. and i have a loud exhaust and a stereo i never get bothered.. but i did have a cop across the street point his finer at me and said turn it down lol...

Then you can just act all innocent-like and go
if cops wanted to be an _______ they can pull you over for basically anything. Most cops have a dominant state of mind and wearing their uniforms gives them a sense of power. Ive been pulled over for the stupidest things like having an amplified system, and going 70 mphs in a 65 ( freeway) with the rest of the cars matching 70...
I live in Cali, Los Angeles
my two brothers are police officers.
thats just how it is.
if anything the cop was jealous of your ride so hes like ive never had a turbo in my life, but I feel the need to stop anyone who does.

One thing I've found, though, is that most cops pull you over just because it's their job and they get in trouble if they don't. I remember my second ticket was a cop radaring people from the bushes. He told me "I'll just pretend I saw your current insurance car, and I'll write you up for such and such speed instead of what I clocked you at."
Needless to say, he didn't show up for court either, so he was basically encouraging me to fight it. Cops, in my experience, would rather catch bad guys than speeders or modders. But the higher ups make them do the speed traps and such. If you're cool with them, they'll usually be cool back. There are always some exceptions though.
