** DRAXAS EXHAUST IS IN!!! ** VIDEO ** PICS **
I am working on my exhaust this weekend. Draxas has assured me that I have a leak somewhere, so I am going to go through and refit and retighten everything. I did a few minor adjustments last weekend and most of the rasp is gone, still a little raspy above 4K, but I still need to check the s-pipe, mid-pipe connection. I will update as soon as possible, I am positive now that it is only an intallation issue .
Okay so i have the orginal exhaust without the Resonator, just the high flow cat and i want to know what it sounds like with the header..........
Am i going to need to put a resonator on
Or does it sound okay????
I really would like to buy the header but i LOVE the way the exhaust sounds right now.....
Draxas please let me know if you did any withOUT the resonator and JUST the High Flow Cat AKA the first exhaust you had!!!!
Thanks

Phils car (the tc shown in the new video with a resonator)had a K&N intake, and a alphawerks header, and when he had the 1st gen draxas exhaust, it was raspy. once they added the resonator, it was taken away. hope this helps
I have taken the entire exhaust system off and had toyota service technician reinstall it with me observing and the sound has not changed... It is still quite raspy with the Megan header if given more than half throttle. He advised me to add a resonator, but the whole reason I chose Draxas was to avoid this... I don't really want to buy a resonator and I really don't want to buy a different header... so I guess I will have to deal with the killer bees coming out of my tailpipe.

I know that 4-1 headers produce rasp with most exhaust systems, but Draxas has a car with the Alphawerks header and a K&N intake that has no rasp. I expected my car to sound the same as the sound clips on their website, but it is not even close... I'll try to get a sound clip this afternoon.
Yeah, we need to find the root of this problem... You should have little to no rasp with our new exhaust system....
Have you installed a new gasket between the header and S-PIpe... and between the S-PIpe and Exhaust?
We had a customer call us who had rasp after installing our exhaust, and it came down to having a small gap between the flanges, that was making for a not-so-smooth transition and allowing a small amount of turbulence to occur, thus creating rasp. Once he took care of that gap, bingo, the rasp was gone.

I posted a while ago about having a problem with this rasp issue with the draxas exhaust and i thought it was gone but no. I was having an exhaust leak and i got it fixed and most of the rasp seemed to go away. Now I am having the same exact issue as TTURedRaider311. A loud metallic noise coming from the muffler when i accelerate across the band. I have the alphawerks header and Injen Intake. I have had someone step on the accelerator while i listened to the muffler and you can even feel the vibration of the metallic noise inside the muffler. Are there any baffles inside the muffler that could be contributing to this? I really do not see this sound being generated soley from the header. It is a very loud annoying sound and its not like hondas with fartcans. Its worst. I dont even know if this would be considered "rasp". It almost sounds like something is loose inside and rattling. Any help draxas?
Is there any way you can take a video of the sound?
We are in the process of making the next batch of exhausts. If we need to make a change to our design, then we need to do it now, otherwise it will have to wait until the next batch.
This metallic noise problem seems to be sporadic.... most of the people who have bought our kits have not experience any issues at all.... It is quite possible that something has come loose inside the main rear muffler, but I find that to be highly unlikely. The rear muffler has no baffles, it is a straight through tube, perforated with hundreds of holes that allow the air/sound to be absorbed by the packing material inside the muffler case.

I took my car to yet another muffler shop and they examined every connection from front to back on the entire exhaust system and said that it was sealed tight. That makes four mechanics who have concluded that there is nothing wrong with the installation of the exhaust. Makes me think something inside of the exhaust system has broken because it is not just normal rasp. Could it be that a few of the exhausts had defects? When did you order your exhaust Bsmntcuts? There is a lifetime warranty on the exhaust correct? That is, if there is a problem with the actual exhaust system.
I have been thinking about that sound clip on the Draxas website... Did the driver give more than half throttle? I could probably only give it half throttle and make it sound good for a video clip.
Also, is the resonator used on the car in the video the exact same one that was put on the exhaust systems?
Where are you located Draxas? If you were close enough to Texas I could visit and have you all take a look at it.

phils car (the car in the video) has the version of the draxas exhaust you have (the one with the resonator). in that video, phil was gettin on the tC hard to check for rasp, and had none, in the video it looks like he when WOT, but I do not know for sure.
draxas is located in Cali

Dont get wrong, I love this exhaust and the quality of manufacturing is amazing. I think it is one of the best sounding exhausts i have ever heard minus the rattle. If I could just find out what is causing the rattling i would be 100% satisfied with it. I dont want to push people away from possibly purchasing this exhaust. Its a great product and i would like to find a solution for this issue.
