The cat def. seems possible but i checked myself too and the muffler sounds like its it. It almost sounds like there is loose metal inside. It might just be amplifying the sound from the the cat though.....

I might take it to a muffler shop and have them look at it to get a second opinion before i get the exhaust all hacked up. Anyone try that yet?

I do at a hard idle like when the car first starts. Thats almost the same affect the a/c has.

I have and they told me that it was just the design of the muffler. The went all the way up and down the pipe with a rubber mallet and nothing rattled at all. Then they started it and reved it and heard it at the muffler region. I told them to hold the muffler and do it and the sound stopped, and then they let it go and tried it and the sound was back.

I agree, it sounds like a coin or something rattling around in a can at high speeds. If I can ever get my friend to stop by the house after he's out of school, I'll try to get some vid of a drive by or something. He's been busy and no one else would be able to help me out. But yeah, mine is pretty annoying in the morning after about 5 minutes of idle and then drive. It backfires in 1st and you can hear it pop inside the muffler, like the whole thing is hollow; 2nd is rattles pretty bad, 3rd still rattles a good bit, but by 4th and 5th it's gone.

Wow......i apologize in advance for not going back and reading previous posts....but is this something new happening with the newer exhausts systems????

I have the first gen exhaust (W/out the resonator ) and it sounds absolutely incredible.....i get so many compliments on it and personally i love the deep sound that i get from it.....is this a problem that happens over time or right away.....

The only problem i have is at a cold start it sounds raspy but then it goes away once warmed up....is this normal or what the problem is????

That would be normal on any exhaust if you have a header and no resonator and yes, it should go away when heated up. Ours is not though. It's continuous when around 4000 rpms in low gears. I can't launch without being embarassed and think that something is about to fall off. It sucks. I'm going with a spintech muffler in the spring. All baffles and a hollow, deep tone.

Megan should be about the same. Their 1st gen muffler. Their 2nd gen is the drift style.

NM, looks like the length of the TRD setup. Just like the stock size.

I dont think u can buy JUST the muffler though. Its a lot cheaper if u can get the muffler only.

Oh....................yeah, spin tech is shaped like a Flowmaster. Flat and rectangular. I'd get it mounted high and paint is black and just get the stock tip put on. Complete sleeper. haha

I just checked out that sound clip for the spin tech. I like. I think i would keep as much of the draxas piping as possible.

Yeah. The inlet pipe would have to be cut under the rear "axle" and have 2 mandrel bent pieces custom fit. But, I'm not sure. I just went to Megan's site again and found some universal drift style muffler that would retain even more of the piping and have the slant setup. I might look at them too.

The spintech is ugly as hell but seems like a good one if you can hide it right. I want to do this soon... If you find any other decent mufflers let me know.

I like the M-GT Muffler. About the same price as the spintech. Yeah, spintech is ugly but can be painted black and jammed up under the hatch area out of site.

Magnaflow, about the same dimensions as the draxas.

I just don't like magnaflow for their nasty design and welds. Not that spintech is any better, but I don't know. I guess painting the muffler is always an option just like spintech. I just want something that is almost no maintenance.....i.e. just weld on and done.
